GSP/Diaz would've been a one-sided mauling by GSP. The truth is that Nick Diaz has NEVER even beat a top 5 welterweight in his career. He put together a nice little win streak outside the UFC and they were able to hype him off that, but it can't be denied that the last time he was in the UFC Diego and Sherk beat him by exposing his weak ass wrestling...imagine what GSP, Fitch, Los, Story, Ellenberger etc would do to him! Im happy we aren't seeing GSP/Diaz because we have already seen it when GSP beat Hardy

I'm actually quite intrigued by both fights on the card, particularly the Penn/Diaz matchup.
Sure, Condit will probably end up getting dominated like what happens in most GSP fights, but I was expecting the same thing to happen to Diaz. I've never felt like Diaz was the formidable opponent some are making him out to be.

Obviously I didn't want to the card changed like it was, but now that it has been, it's a good test for Diaz. If he gets beaten by Penn, then he obviously wasn't ready for the matchup with GSP. I've always thought he should have come into the UFC and faced one or two welterweights before getting a title shot.
If he beats Penn, then he obviously gets a shot at the belt, no questions asked.

But I'm going with BJ. I think he's super pumped for this fight and we'll see the best Penn we've seen in awhile. Even though he's been pretty damn good as of late.

meh, Diaz was robbed in that Sherk fight with judges scoring near miss punches as hits and the Diego fight a close back & forth scramble till the end.
anyways, that was what? 10 years ago?

Nicks active lanky guard would be a stifling equalizer to Georges head down patter plopping. GSP's only real edge would be in takedowns which Nick wouldn't mind ofcourse, and he'd have to get in punching range for that to happen. Nicks barrage of combos would bust through Georges TaeKwon Do and keep him at range. He will take punches to get inside and GSP doesn't like to get hit, and he will repeatedly against Nick.

Still, I admit, GSP would be favored to pillownap on Nicks chest for a decision but he'd be in for a fight with a dude that could walk through his punches and dish out some punishment as well stifle his top game and pose viable submission threats all thoughout. The process of how GSP would have to get the win would be exciting because of all the problems Nicks game presents.

In any case, going down the roster of WW's there was no opponent matchup more interesting or exciting other than Nick.

Dana is just too full of himself.
