Reading your first post on here, you said "Diaz will have his moments". In a nutshell that would be my analysis as well. GSP doesn't finish fights very often, and Diaz seems to relish ending them. He's got great BJJ and underrated awkward striking. Does that mean he should be even on the betting line? No, in fact I would assume GSP will be around a 3-1 favorite when the betting opens.

He will have chances, and with his skill set that enough to make him a threat.

    :deal

Saying Diaz has no chance is just as ridiculous as saying that he will destroy GSP.

His striking is overrated if anything

I think anarchy is saying that apart from the chance that there always is of a lucky punch, sub etc. if both fighters fight at similar forms or even diaz better then there is no department that he has a comparative advantage in and i agree.

I happen to agree with most of what you are saying , barring your thread title .

First of all your massively underestimating Diaz's stand up , while it may look unorthadox its very very effective , Diaz has stood there and traded with some of MMA's premier strikers , and most of the time wins the exchanges as well as finishing fights .

His attacking Jui Jitsu off his back is deadly , notice how i said attacking !!! reason being his defensive Jui Jistu off his back is some of the finest in MMA , this will be evident when everyone will be expecting GSP to G&P Diaz to death , its not happening , Diaz will stall GSP on the ground and will be looking to sweep or submit him , and id hench my bets he gets minimul damage on the ground from GSP :hey

However the one thing you have very correctly pointed out is Diaz's lack of wrestling , this will be his downfall , and this IMO gives GSP the edge in the fight , as good as Diaz is off his back , and as fit he is , having a dominant wrestler take you down for 5 rounds in the end will break you down and thats what i see happening here , but i will say this , it wont be easy for GSP and Diaz will be looking to apply pressure and finish GSP no matter what he throws at him

I agree 110% his defensive BJJ is among the best in the business and he WILL attempt to mount that offense from a DEFENSIVE perspective however, I think GSP has great top control and has Blackbelt level (not a level among the likes of Penn or Diaz) skills in BJJ to realize the danger.

Bottom line is, there is no one other than Diaz at WW that would create such an exciting match up stylistically. So even though Diaz will come out as heavy underdog, I'd want no one else fight GSP at this point and time.

A possible Nate Marquardt match-up would be interesting IF he makes the weight.
