Ok so the well experienced ATG DLH and the best JWW Hatton
didn't even land a flush punch on PAC ... but smaller Marquez did :blood

Also both DLH and Hatton (bigger guys) either quit or been stopped
... while Marquez (the smaller guy) did not :deal, that means something I think.

Thus the classic section. But even that can become a bit too civilized :D And of course, thanks.

The fight is there to see because you can actually download it. So what round exactly did Hoya or Hatton landed flush (chin not body) on Pac?

The Pac that JMM fought does not have a right hand, which made him very predictable. But he has shown with David Diaz, Hoya and Hatton that his right hand is improving. That is a very big difference because now you have to be wary of the right hand as well. This is a small improvement but at the elite level, a minor tweaking, like adding a right hand that can KO as well to a very offensive minded left hander, spells a very big difference.

The problem is not just light-punching Diaz stunning JMM - it's that Diaz was ABLE to land several flush left hands almost at will, and WW Floyd is MUCH bigger, stronger, quicker, more precise than LW Diaz. People fight at a certain division for a reason, and JMM's best is FW, maybe SFW.

Pac looked great at LWW and WW and I bet he could take a few flush Cotto shots. But I'm still concerned for Pac because WW shots has 3-5 times bigger effects. Now JMM already looked physically weak and stunned at LW vs. light punching Diaz, guess what a disadvantage he's facing vs. Floyd at 144... A single flush shot can make a career FW punch-drunk for the rest of the fight, and that is my concern.

Its not just the diaz fight, marquez has been down multiple times against some b-list fighters....his chin is average IMO, not really superb...

If Pac fans are bragging that Diaz stunned JMM then they can go and look at Oscar Larios stunning Pac......

I don't think the Diaz fight bears much fruit as regards making a prediction on JMM/PBF - much less as regards showing how JMM has apparently declined. Firstly, Diaz was a HUGE stylistic nightmare for Marquez. Marquez is a counter-puncher, who likes to have room to counter his opponents and pick his spots, and to control the range, making his opponent fall short and then coming back in to return fire. Against a counter-puncher, someone who is always in your face and throws combinations relentlessly, never giving you time to come back and counter, is a serious difficulty. Add to that the fact that Marquez fought an uncharacteristically stupid fight as far as ring strategy goes by fighting off the ropes rather than the centre of the ring, and you have a fight that's almost unwinnable.

The fact that Marquez stopped Diaz shows that he has power and courage. Apart from that, the fight is irrelevant. Floyd is by no means a swarming volume puncher. I suppose the fact that Diaz buzzed Marquez once or twice raises some doubts about Marquez' chin at 144(?), which will be tested more severly by a heavier puncher in PBF; but I don't expect him to get hit that much on Sept. 19, as he seems to be able to pick off potshots fairly well once he adjusts.

Another stupid post. We are talking here of recent performance which is more reflective of their capacity to absorb punches now. If you want to use your logic, why don't you move back further and use the Torrecampo and Singsurat fights (which is a favorite of the Pac hater).

Probably, you are among the many who still believe that JMM is as good as he was. That is great except that injuries do happen with fighters who does not know that their prime past them.

Answer this : do you still believe that JMM is prime? Because even a prime JMM would not have a walk in the park against Mayweather.

The Larios punch was at the button, which nobody even with a great whisker is immune, similar to the Hatton punch.

JMM got stunned by a feather fisted fighter, Diaz. Not once, not twice, but countless times. That's the difference. Imagine Floyd with a welter punch in Diaz's place.

Very true and im not saying Floyd cant punch, infact i think he is a very underated puncher.

And i was having a dig at the Pac fans who dont miss a chance to try to undermine a great fighter. And on that point Larios is hardly Earnie Shavers.

I think JMM will fight Floyd alot more cautiously than he fought Diaz.
