I hope he recovers, but this doesn't sound promising at all. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3492875 " Welterweight Oscar Diaz, who collapsed in his corner after the 10th round of a TKO loss to Delvin Rodriguez on Wednesday night, remained in critical condition Thursday after undergoing surgery overnight to relieve swelling on his brain at San Antonio's University Medical Center. "Oscar came through surgery well," Ron Katz of Rodriguez promoter Star Boxing told ESPN.com after talking to Donna Duva Brooks of Hall of Fame Promotions, Diaz's promoter, who was at the hospital. "They had to remove the left side of his cranium in order to help the swelling go down, which apparently was very bad," Katz said. "He had a subdural hematoma [bleeding on the brain], which was taken care of. During surgery, he apparently showed movement in his arms and his brain pressure was very good, according to the doctor. ..."
i hope everything goes well and he recovers 100%. this is truly upsetting news buh may god be with him
I wish him only the best. And maybe this will give pause to throwing the word coward around when talking about boxers.
God for as bad as this is this sounds like some good news, lets just hope everything else falls together in a good way.
At the minimum, let's hope he has a solid support group in place that can take care of him, if that proves necessary.
I am glad that this fight took place in his home town atleast his family will be there with him through all of this imagine had it been on the eastcoast somewhere.
I watched the entire fight. Hard punches were landed by both fighters...but nothing super-hard, blind side type blows. Referee did a good job too. The Diaz previous Golden Johnson loss was mentioned.....and Diaz supposedly took a lot of punches in that fight, then Diaz had another fight afterwards but it was stopped after one round for a technical reason. Boxing is a dangerous sport anytime you get in the ring. My prayers will continue to be with him.
This sucks I figured something bad would happen watching him collapse like he did last night. Ill be praying for him ive always been a Diaz fan and I hear hes a very cool guy a freind of mine trained at his gym once and said he would ask Diaz a bunch of questions and he would answer polietly and always have a smile on his face.
