    Oscar Diaz Update!
Fightnews.com has been informed that the surgery performed on Oscar Diaz "went well" and "he is stabilized but still in critical condition." Reportedly Diaz is under heavy sedation, but was not in a medically induced coma.

Damn.. I missed the fight, but best wishes to him.. Hope he recovers well and hope that this is career ending.. I can't see the doctors allowing him to fight after this, but may God be with him and hope that he'll be good as new soon..

I'm no expert, but this seems like mostly good news to me?

The pressure has been relieved and he is showing movement...these are good signs?

Come on Oscar. Glad Surgery went well but he's not out of the clear by any means. Still in critical condition.

    We are pulling for you.

From a medical standpoint, successful surgery means accomplishing the objective without killing the patient. They did reduce the swelling and Diaz awoke from the procedure, so technically, a success. We just don't know what that means.

As a caution, however, keep in mind that Gerald McClellan had what would be considered successful brain surgery following the Benn fight. The key factor is what "left side" means. That quote was authored by a layman, so we don't really know. You obviously can't lose an entire side of the brain and be completely functional.

On the other hand, I believe it was Michael Bentt who emerged from brain surgery intact. Hoping for the best.

What happened to that guy Victor Burgos, who collapsed after fighting Darchinyan? Did he recover?

Man, I can't help but remember when Leavander Johnson died. I hope that this doesn't end like that. That was just terrible, and in some ways, this reminds me of that.
