That is why it is scary if you are Katsidis becasue he will keep fighting back, will refuse to go down, even if it is already apparent that he is being beaten to punch everytime. If I were in his team, I would be very concern about his health once I know he can not win the fight.:yep
:good Alot of people would have you believe that Diaz has the styles advantage here but as I've said again and again its really Katsidis who has that advantage. Diaz is a come forward volume puncher who doesn't have enough power in both his hands. That clearly plays into Katsidis hands who will surely land bombs throughout the fight. Diaz is a tough mofo but he has never faced a huge puncher like Katsidis(yes that's including the old and faded Freitas). The descendant of Achilles shall not be denied!
Good post...but there is a couple HUGE factors your not contemplating. 1- Katsidis cuts EASILY!!! And that is an understatement. 2- Diaz, not only is like a buzzsaw (tho admittingly not a hard hitting buzzsaw LOL) in the way he throws a TON of punches, but he is also AMAZING at attacking from all angles. Put those two together and the smart money is Baby Bull by TKO on cuts. Katsidis WILL get cut, and with the way Diaz fights, that cut will become BAD as the fight goes on.
Although you are right imo that Diaz is more skilled, I kind of favor Katsidis because both are basically sluggers and Katsidis has the heavier hands. On the other hand, Diaz is young and a sharp guy to boot, so maybe he's been able to harness the motivation from his first loss to gain some defensive expertise a la Marco Antonio Barrera after his loss to Jr Jones. Maybe we see a new J.D.? Sounds good but I don't quite believe it. Katsidis by late TKO.
i dont mean to be dismissive, you're looking for a way to make a winner out of a loser, like detailing how hatton can beat floyd (kats has a better chance than hatton, but he's the lower class of fighter in this bout). his defense is too open, he cuts too easily, and is looking for a "war". Juan Diaz, an intelligent elite athlete, is looking to win a boxing match, not slug randomly like a drunkard. Do you think Diaz would struggle with the likes of Graham Earl and Amonsot? ring intelligence is largely in favor of Diaz here. i have a large bet on Diaz inside. if he wants it within 7 he can have it, more likely he doesnt take unnecessary risks and stops katsidis within 10.
Im not worried to much about the outcome sure i will go mentle on this board if Katsidis wins. But when Juan Diaz is your next favourite fighter in the game today it makes it hard. Im going for Katsidis its the Australian thing to do plus it would change boxing over here which is what we need as since Kostya retired we get no exposure which is bad for boxing in general.
Good post.. I think Katsidis, the warrior he is, is just going to end up overwhelming Diaz in the later rounds.. If Diaz can't use his jab effectively or hurt Katsidis, then I just think Kats will wear Diaz down and possibly even getting a TKO.. I'm rooting for Kats in this fight, but I give props to both fighters for putting on such a fight..
I know what you mean....Both Katsidis and Diaz are two of my favorite fighters. It means I don't really care who wins but I'll be also be somewhat saddened that one of them has to lose.
Yeah. They are two absolute warriors who will surely give their all, but at the end of the day one of them has to lose. Kinda sad if you really think about it.
Katsidis's main problem is discipline it is the sole reason he lost the Casamayor fight. If he keeps his head this fight is a toss up and a brutal war to boot!
I'm not saying I disagree, but according to Katsidis his first cut, ever, happened two fights ago against Amonsot.
