Bottom line:deal Still can't believe how wobbly his legs went after Prescott hit him with that jab, and that was before the power shots finished him.
A wanker he may be, but a genius business man on top of that. He ultimately does whats best for his fighters and his own pocket.
The kid's chin will be a huge hinderance for him. I think people are starting to gloss over exactly how bad it is. He was almost out against Limond.
Some people's legs are naturally skinny my God Khan has Skinny legs. First thing Roach's team done was to move most of top body weight down to his skinny legs, I think his chin will hold up better now lets wait and see. I really think this guy is weight drained at LW and needs to move up weight.
I think you're over-estimating the weight-making-skinny-leg theory a tad. In my eyes he just appears to have a diabolically bad chin, which no amount of leg-presses in the gym or a move up to LWW is gonna drastically improve (bigger hitters in the divisions north of LW as well:deal). Sugar Ray Robinson had skinny legs allied to a fantastic chin. I really don't think bulking up the legs is really gonna help Khan that much, if at all.
Diaz vs Marquez for the Vacant belt is the right move. If Khan beat's Barrera and that's a massive if I'm not sure he would be ready to face any of those two, maybe he should take another fight with an experienced fighter before going into battle with Marquez or Diaz. Julio Diaz or even Casamayor would be a good Start.
Don't know why GBP would bother with the WBO title. They have their own world title, they own most of the lightweight division and when the Ring belt changes hands it changes from one Golden Boy fighter to another. Their fighters don't have to pay sanctioning fees, and the rival to the Ring champ - Nate Campbell - lost his titles on the scales before the Funeka fight. If they get alphabet titles, then the GBP fighters have to start fighting fighters from other promoters. Maybe this is better, as other promoters get a look in. But if it stops Khan from getting a back door route to world titles, then count me in.
Glad to hear it. They have sanctioned the biggest and best fight out there. It makes perfect sense. The titles are still fragmented and a lineal champ is yet to be determined.
Yeah I agree about the chin his one is bad, yet it might be a help, not solving the problem altogether. Its better to have 'stronger' legs if you have a weak chin.
Maybe somone who is more into their boxing training could tell us, but I always believed that building up your shoulders and neck enabled you to cushion a blow better as your head is knocked back with a hard punch...someone like Jeff would probably be able to help here.
I absolutely disagree with anyone who claims that a 'chin' cannot be improved in anyway shape or form. As with anything in Boxing or sport in general even, there is a scientific reasoning for the 'glass jaw syndrome' while you probably cannot cure this, there will no doubt be way of minimising this problem. For anyone to say otherwise is quite frankly ridiculous.
theres only one way khan will minimise his problem, thats by taking up crown green bowling. a **** chin,is a **** chin,no amount of upper body strengh training,or weight on the legs:roflis gonna change that,a good defence will not change it,only prolong the inevitable:good some people can take a ****ing baseball bat on the chin, some a weak gust of wind will knock em down:nutits a human weakness in some, and khan is right at the top
Unless you can bring a strong defence to refute the existence of human biology, physics and chemistry with regards to a 'chin' id say everything you just wrote is total bollocks. My point is not about Khan or any particular boxer, just the false notion people might have about a 'chin'. Im a strong believer in scientific approaches to most things. This has been taken up by many people in different sports to improve performance in various ways. The style of Karate which I practiced for a number of years, i've seen videos of old men breaking baseball bats on each other...this didnt happen overnight, it only happened after years of conditioning.
