paulie has always fought in a "safety first" type of style...even against guys he's outclassed......juan has always fought in a "face first" type of style, so that should tell you a lot right there......mostly every juan diaz fight is brutal. keep in mind that just cause a fighter has great wins and accomplished a lot early in his career, doesn't mean his brain didn't take no punishment.....
Diaz was'nt a big lightweight to begin with. He stepped into the ring against JMM at 138 lbs, only going up 3 lbs from his official weighin....... ......he was at 144 lbs in the ring tonight, 6 lbs over what he had been vs JMM, and none of that 6 lbs was muscle.
Yeah, not his weight, and I'm not sure but I think I remember that he was doing his bull thing and just rammed his chin right into Paulie's oncoming fist. Anybody who's bulling their way into an oncoming punch no matter who the puncher is could be a little stunned. I think that's all it was too, just a little stunned. He recovered fine. It's more the skin with him that I worried about. Chin may not be shot but the skin with the scar tissue around the eyes, that puts him at a tremendous disadvantage over anybody he's going to fight from here on out.
Agree with those who say Diaz should move back down in weight. He will end up KTFO by multiple fighters at 140. He's been in several wars already and, at this point, may not have a whole lot left. I'd like to see him try his hand back at 135, come what may.
agreed, cotto was caught off gaurd by that punch, but imho was not hurt...same with the knockdown on juan...what sucks for diaz, if he kept his glove up off the canvas it's not a KD...I'm still skeptical his glove touched the canvas? I may be wrong, but I didnt see it...as I said in my opening post... but he in the round before he was hurt...paulie if he had any power would have finished, he tryed somewhat...
why diaz was stunned by paulie? 1. jmm might already craked his chin. 2. diaz should not be fighting at 140. 3. paulie must be juicing. lol
I don't think so. I am getting tired explaining this to people. Amir Khans punch resistance was worse at 135 because he was draining himself and he had too much power in his upper body and none in his legs, which means he was basically unbalanced and obviously being drained makes you weaker anyway. This information comes from Freddy Roach and Alex Ariza who I think should know a thing or two about this subject. Up at this new weight-class Khan hits harder, takes a better punch and still has his speed. That was proved when he took out dmitriy salita in 76 seconds.
Paula just beat a fat kid that was ruined by JMM put her in there with Bradley or JMM and she will get ran out of the ring.
At least Juan is now sure that he really needs that law degree. It seems that he already reached his peak in boxing and it's now time to look for another career.
******ed thread starter doing what he does best. Anyway, as proven ENDLESS times, KO ration good or not if you're caught with the right punch at th right time you WILL be hurt. In the end it's a PUNCH, having few KOs on the record doesn't change that punch to slap.
