Martinez has one fight left on HBO. his Come back fight is going to be a give me and IF HBO doesn't approve it . it gives him the window to go over to SHO. he hasn't forgot how they treated him with that Chavez Jr BS when they wouldn't approve his mando against Zbik but then approved Jr fighting him causing him to get stripped. it's not like it can't happen Martinez will schedule a fight against a no hoper in feb-march then schedule another bs defense in june or wait out till Sept for the Money fight against Floyd

Sergio even at 155lbs is a bad fight for Cotto, besides that I would think there's more money on the table for Cotto to fight Alvarez. TR may just be using Martinez talk as leverage for Alvarez negotiations.

Either that or they might really think Martinez is shot and are trying to squeeze
a PPV out of Cotto before making the Canelo figtht.

    One fight left? Damn.

Well if Ward needs to fight a Rodriguez type coming back from injury, I'm sure HBO won't apply double standards to Martinez - I don't think it'll be a 'gimme'. Plus, if Martinez is bailing on them afterwards, they need a dangerous opponent who could win or at least look good so they can still use Martinez' name marketing wise after he's gone.

this fight doesn't happen. Cotto vs Canelo is going to happen and Floyd will fight Martinez leaving HBO in the cold with Jim Lampley Shaking his head saying " I can't believe this fight is happening" LOL HBO will Look to keepBuilding GGG who will eventually jump ship to SHO to Secure a fight with Jacobs, Quillen and Canelo as HBO will Try to force a Ward fight something K2 is not to Keen in happening.

IF HBO refuses to accept the fight they would breach contract which will allow Martinez to fight Where ever he wants. Just like when When BUTE was grabbed fought a couple of fights they refused one of his fights and fought froch on Epix now Bute can fight on any network and he never fulfilled his 3rd fight.

Both sides seem to want it.

"So Team Cotto likes the fight, but what about Martinez and his handlers? Count him in, adviser Sampson Lewkowicz told ESPN.com on Monday. He said Martinez definitely wants the fight."

I think Cotto-Martinez on HBO PPV leads to Golovkin-Martinez on regular HBO.

Fat man Dan is on the outs. GBP SHO and May Are going to pull a power move fact is Cotto makes more money fighting Canelo and Martinez makes more money fighting MONEY then he would Cotto or anyone else HBO can come up with

NOw im not saying they both don't want the fight but it won't happen , but Cotto is a smart man he fights Angulo or Molina in feb or march Canelo fight Ortiz if he wins his next figth and then they have a big PPV in june.

Cotto - Margarito II did 600K buys.

People forget that Cotto is a PPV draw and may be the bigger draw in this fight. I have no doubt the fight can generated at least 500K PPV buys if they put it on PPV.

That's very plausible. I just haven't read any evidence of that scenario happening... but I can see it.

On the other hand I would think HBO somehow got their foot in the door when they had Cotto beat down Rodriguez on their broadcast... Cotto's team & HBO must have talked about the future, that's how the Martinez fight came about.

Probally about 700k but Cotto vs Canelo draw 1.2 the whole Mex vs Rican thing and and PBF vs Martinez draws 1.5 or 2mill in PPV
