yeah true but just a few weeks ago cotto's advisor said no talks had happened and Schaffer had ameeting with cotto earlier this week just like last
year before May made the jump to SHO HBO had no clue they'll get the rugged pulled out form them again.

Cotto is the 3rd biggest ppv star fighting the Ring MW champ and top 5 p4p. Why wouldn't it be PPV?

I just want to see any of those get done already. Any combination of cotto/canelo/sergio is great. Then you have floyd, ggg, and pacquiao lurking. Exciting time from 147,154 and 160 right now

jmm and bradley got a guarantee for total of 10mil on their fight. cotto-martinez may get about the same.

i don't think gbp is going to guarantee 10mil to a canelo-cotto fight at this time.

Why? Do you think the Floyd budget at GBP/SHO is so heavy that they couldn't find 10 mil for a MEX vs PR megafight?

I think money wouldn't be an issue - IMO Cotto wouldn't like to be used as a stepping stone for Canelo, and fancies his chances of beating Sergio that's all.

The only reason for this fight to happen IMO is if Cotto is in fact not a free agent in terms of both company and network. I know everyone publicly insists he is (except Steve Kim), but there's absolutely no reason for him to fight Martinez instead of Alvarez if he has the ability to make that choice.

Legacy's a big one. Martinez is a borderline HOF caliber fighter and offers him a chance to become the middleweight champion. Alvarez is still an unproven fighter who, legacy wise, doesn't have those chops yet. Maybe he will in time, but Cotto defeating Martinez would carry a lot more weight.

Besides, Alvarez will make him more financially, but it's not like he still wouldn't make bank against Sergio.

If Golden Boy is part of it then the card will be stacked!!

    Golden Boy 500k-800k

    Top Rank 300-500k

Were u get all those "extra buys" are from fans that like the whole card. Top Rank nevers put on a good card so the buys will be less IMO.

    Cotto wins BY KO

Cotto-Martinez and GGG on the undercard is a natural PPV event for HBO with the winners clashing later on.
Cotto has been screwed twice with GBP and he is much better off with Top Rank.

It would do horrible numbers. Argentina and Puerto Rico have no real fan bases and both fighters are over the hill.

I wonder who HBO would put GGG up against in that timeframe, assuming the Murray fight happens in February or not at all. Maybe Geale if he's got nothing on the go.

How was the atmosphere last night? Did the Brooklyn crowd resort to cheering Golovkin on at some point?

Boxing is like the air people breath in Puerto Rico....no offense but that comment makes you sound like a complete fool. I'm not to sure regarding Argentina but my wife is Argentinian and they are pretty nutty when it comes to sports.
