I think DiBella is still bitter from that HBO "contract from hell" that Roy had when DiBella was over there.

Roy outsmarted the guys at HBO and got them to televise basically any fight he wanted as long as the opponent was ranked in The Ring Top 10.

Lou DiBella is the biggest moron...he's kissing serious ass to setup the fight with Johnson...i dont see how else this stupid statement can be justified...

"Joe would've beaten him in anytime during his career" :patsch

    ****IN BLASPHEMY!

  5. "Jones wasn't a great technical boxer he was a great athlete" - Pretty accurate but the Jones fanbase will never admit to this; they'd have you believe he beat a prime Hopkins and a perfectly conditioned Toney even those jone's fights with those fighters at those stages were relatively close all things considered.

Relatively close, meaning Jones beat Toney merely 119-108 instead of 120-107?

You are a moron. Relatively close? Jones blew both Hopkins and Toney out of the water. :rofl

So what if he was a great athlete more then a technical boxer. What does that have to do with his talent?

Don't tell me you SERIOUSLY think...JC stood a chance against a PRIME ROY JONES JR.

he did great against a shot Jones who relied on reflexes much like most boxers of his style do...

but when he was untouchable...are you serious? Calzaghe wouldnt have the power to get anything accomplished no matter how many girl punches he threw (he swings like a *****)...

  9. Yes, I would have given him a chance. certainly better than Hopkins + Toney.

Also, prime Calzaghe was far far far lighter on his feet than he is now but of course no one knows this because no one here has actually seen Calzaghe before the Lacy fight so blind statements are made to 'how easily' prime Jones dispatches him.

I don't think prime RJJ blows prime Calzaghe out the water.

    I see him winning a 8-4, 9-3 type decision.

  11. There's no reason to resort to abuse. I suggest you read read my statement - "relatively close all things considered" - all things considered as Hopkins experience/prime and Toney's weight that kind of all things considered ok. There were holes in those fights I suggest you rewatch them.

And secondly (highlighted in bold) it has EVERYTHING to do with his talent. In simple English Jones was never the greatest technical boxer nor inside fighter if you don't understand what I am saying here then you cannot claim to know anything about boxing.

How do you know Bernard Hopkins wasnt in his prime? He hadnt lost a fight in 5 years. He wouldnt lose another fight for 12 years. Knocking everyone out and their momma in that time period.

    What weight problems with Toney?

Point being, Roy didnt have to be technically proficient. During his time at the top he defeated atleast 3 hofers, and fought more fights then he lost rounds.

When was Calzaghe's prime? Certainly not when he fought Ried. Mentality wise, I think Joe is at his best. This version of Calzaghe would be more likely to win 4 rounds off a prime Roy, then a 90's version of Calzaghe.

Joe's prime was 2006-2007. He still is very close all things considered.

I still think Joe and Roy would be a very close fight and Joe has at least 50% chance of winning prime 4 prime.
