how about pirog and GG fight each other or other contenders.beating a prospect and ko'ing bute in the am's doesn't earn a shot at the champ.contenders need to start fighting contenders

Martinez is suppose to fight the winner of Zbik/Chavez Jr right? Zbik is a middleweight..

I think he'll fight more middleweights..

i dont feel martinez has any real rivals or equals at middleweight.

he should have dibella get him fights so he can unify the division.(sturm, slyvseter, pirog)

and maybe get the big money fights vs :
    cotto/margarito winner

    -chavez jnr-

    alverez.

The only problem will be getting these people to dare sign to fight him.

Yeah shitty ones like Zbik or Chavez while the likes of Pirog, Golovkin, and N'jikam won't be mentioned. They're in the same boat Martinez was before he got the chance to fight Williams.

I haven't seen much of Pirog, but at this stage i think he would be a tougher challenge than cotto or margarito. Seems to have better skills, slick, good chin, and not to mention KTFO power.

Ah yes the old 'Pavlik lost because he couldn't make 160' excuse. One of my favourite Pavlik excuses. Second only to 'Pavlik lost because the fight wasn't at 160'

The problem is he still doesn't have the connections to get back on HBO, so he's a horrible risk/reward proposition for Martinez.

If Pirog were with Haymon, this wouldn't be a problem. But it's too easy for the network to ignore him, despite the fact that he looked better than other guys who get headlining dates for them. You could see it at the end of the Martinez-Dzinziruk fight when Kellerman went out of his way to talk up Angulo and Kirkland, neither of whom have any middleweight experience, as future opponents for Martinez and simply glossed over Pirog.

In my opinion, he's getting punished for blowing GBP's plans for Danny Jacobs, who they invested alot in. Pirog wasn't supposed to win that fight and they would've screwed him on the cards if it got that far.

Instead, we get more Berto and Broner fights while a fighter who deserves more exposure is essentially frozen out. It's bull****, and it's a perfect example of what's wrong with HBO boxing.

I think he's talking more about the fact that he was a full blown alcoholic.

Kirkland and Angulo. Two more 154lb fighters both of which are 1 dimensional.

People need to wake up and realise Martinez is p4p #2 or 3 in the world now.

I like Pirog, a lot, but what has he done to earn a shot at the third best fighter in the world and the middleweight champ? Besides the fact that Martinez just got done fighting a guy with zero name recognition....

Martinez belongs in the circles of the Mayweathers, Pacs, Cottos.

This isnt just about what fighters should be getting a shot at Martinez, its also about who Martinez has earned to get a shot at especially after just taking on a no reward type fight. Martinez has earned the right to fight Mayweather at 154, or get a big box office fight like against Cotto.

Pirog is not on Martinez's radar, and rightfully so at this point.

But since the world knows that no big names will fight Martinez, he should go fight Sturm, that would be a semi big fight.

And while its understandable for Pac not to fight Martinez, as Pac doesnt even fight at true 154, there is no reason why a fight with Mayweather shouldnt happen, or even Cotto, Martinez has taken on Pavlik, Williams, and Dz, nothing wrong with having a money fight against Cotto at this point, its not like hes in the habit of taking easy fights.

From what we have seen, Pirog would be very dangerous for Martinez.
We need to sort out the other "Champs" Sbik, Sylvester and Sturm etc.
