Lou DiBella confirms that Martinez remained light during the preparations for his MW championship fight vs. Matthew Macklin and actually had a full meal before weighing in at 157,5lbs on Friday. This of course means if opportunity comes, he'll be ready to return and go well under the LMW limit of 154, although DiBella is still positive that the disgraceful ducker Chavez Jr, who could outweigh Maravilla by 15 pounds, stops running and the corrupt MBC I mean WBC finally decides to enforce their rules.

That beating is a long time coming and Sergio will pay for the shameless favoritism by the Mexican organization and Top Rank, although DiBella thinks Jr. will throw away the title as easily as he got it if he'll see Sesy in sight.

yeah he's been gradually losing weight this past year so he can make weight to fight Floyd. Sergio was a normal sized MW last year

He's on this odd diet before fight which means he bulks up in camp before gradually making it back to 160 not to be too light... at least that was the plan, but his body can't hold as much extra weight, so he was quickly back to light. This kind of program takes a toll on his body to little benefit IMO, he'd be better off just doing his regular program and come in lighter.

Floyd ain't fighting Martinez (though I know Floyd would beat him). Either is Canelo, Cotto or Chavez Jr. Sergio IS the most avoided boxer. Fortunately, the guy's made millions outside the ring.

:deal:deal Exactly if he wants to fight at 154 go back there and fight. Or make the deal so him and Chavez can fight and Jr can beat him back to 154.

exactly and don't yall remember last year when Sergio was over here talking about how he can't possibly and physically go below 156 pounds. Then it became 155, then 154. Each time he lowered it, everybody just jumped up and yelled that he would be draining himself. At the same time he was weighing 170+ 30 days before the fight and weighing 170 on the day of the fight.
There was a point were most everybody thought he'd have to kill himself at 154. Now he's tricked people into thinking he was this Junior Middleweight the whole time. Like I said before, he needs to pick a weight class and stay there if he wants to keep winning

This is true and I always found that weird considering then he was only two years removed from fighting Cintron at 154.

There are enough names at 154 now for him to make a good living so he should either get Chavez Jr or come back down to 154 permanently.

DiBella talks a load of ****. I remember him claiming Martinez walks around outside of camp at no bigger than super middleweight.

The 30-day weigh in for Williams II said otherwise. Dude was 176, if I remember correctly.

If this was the case, he could easily drain himself and make 147lbs. I don't think he could though.

If it is true, he should be campaigning at welter. That's where all the money is and he's more likely to allure Pacquiao or Mayweather by at least being in the same division.

I'm not saying Martinez should move up to 168, but he's being made out to be much smaller than he really is. Come on, DiBella said the same thing after the Barker fight; a fight in which Martinez entered the ring at 165 I believe. So he's been eating full meals all week of the fight, weighing 154 but he gains at least 5 pounds after the weigh in?

    **** off.

Yeah, I bet DiBella is trying to make Martinez seem smaller than he is so Mayweather and Pacquiao don't think he's too big for them.

Yeah, that's all it is. A campaign to convince the public that Martinez isn't a middleweight, all in an attempt to put pressure on Floyd and Pac to fight him at 150-154.

But the fact is, in today's boxing, through expert nutritionists and conditioning coaches, it's very possible to effectively cut insane amounts of weight, and replenish reasonably well in 24 hours. This ain't same day weigh-ins any more. Yes, there's a chance Martinez could be drained, but there's also a good chance that he'll come in as a fully-functioning, dangerous 170-pounder with speed, power and stamina to match. It's no surprise that a small welterweight like Pac, isn't too keen on accepting his challenge.
