i dont see why that would even be necessary, couldnt Martinez and Floyd just fight for Floyds world title belt at 154?

I still haven't seen why Geale would be any less of a valid fight and think it's probably more significant. And no, people in this thread aren't framing this in terms of "what is he going to do" but instead simply rushing to make the usual nonsensical ducking accusations immediately.

What makes GGG any more qualified to fight Martinez than Geale?

What has GGG done exactly to make him 2the next best man"?

    Beating Proksa?

Who the **** is Sergio Martinez? LOL

He pulled this same **** when Pirog offered him 3 million for the fight in Moscow.
Turned it down for the "great" Macklin and Barker.
    He is a ****ing fraud.

Hes 37, has maybe 2-3 fights left,is finally considered a superstar and wants to make the big money, fighting the big fights.

Is a guy whos biggest win is against Grzegorz Proksa going to do that for him?

    No.

We can agree to disagree. But time will prove what i'm saying is true. Dibella has done nothing to really push Martinez to the mainstream. Can you imagine what Top Rank would have done with him?

Regarding Hershman wanting to bring Geale over...I don know about that but I do know he brought GGG over, yup He told Gary Shaw he could have the date but needed the main event spot for a K2 fighter.

What projection? Cotto vs Canelo fight is going to happen in May. And he is not getting Pac or Mayweather.

funny thing is by the time Martinez is ready to fight Golovkin/ Geale will be sorted. Either they fight or Geale drops the title.

I don't know why your making excuse as if GGG is not a legit fight.

Top Rank wouldn't have done anything more for him because they've never proven capable of promoting fighters without already existing natural fan bases. See the lethargic job they've done with their Cuban fighters so far, and at least those guys could be promoted in Miami (though Arum still refuses to do so). There's a reason why they passed when they had the initial chance at signing Martinez.

They were trying to make Pirog-Geale long before Pirog-Golovkin. Pelullo was the main promoter for that date, not Shaw.
Oh jeepers, I had no idea I was speaking to such an insider.

Just like either Stum would have to fight Golovkin or drop the title for the last 3 years.
I don't know why you're acting like it's the only logical fight.

He's right Golovkin need building up more to be a marketable name. Perhaps they should have him on the undercard of the proposed Martinez-Chavez Jr fight remtach to give him some exposure against either Macklin, Pirog, Geale, Strum or the N'Jikam-Quillin winner then he will be in position to face Martinez.

Out of curiosity, what makes anyone believe the supposed offer was legitimate? Titov never actually said what that number was, and when has German Titov put on a card that EVER generated anywhere near $3 million in revenue? And then of course after making that call out, all Pirog has done is fought scrubs and pulled out of a fight with GGG, so it's not like he's even backed up his big talk.

Barker wasn't a great fight to take, but if legacy or dangerousness is something you care about, then Macklin was a far better choice than taking Pirog in Russia - more exposure, still pretty good money, and Macklin has actually, you know, beaten good fighters in the ring.

Yes it would! and that's the point. Mackiln's following has nothing to do with merit and everything to do with him being Irish.

Is it a bigger following than Golovkin's at the moment?

I agree he should go for the big fights. Doubtful of his chances of landing one, other than JCC (if Sergio drops the drug testing demands). But he's not in the same stratosphere as FMJ, Pac. If he's the A side of a ppv, it'll be one of those integrated sports ones from Argentina, with 15k buys
