with joppy and hamdan as the next 2 168 challengers steiglitz is not so bad. he was after all frozen out by HBO and calzaghe as a mandatory, without doing anything wrong besides not having a westernised name.
Because a Champion who lost the belt in his previous fight cannnot compete in an eliminator to become mandatory challenger in his very next fight, according to IBF rules.
Why not a saturday evening on HBO, may the 17th, with Stieglitz-Andrade and Bute-Taylor? Di Bella did not buy this bout for nothing. It would be very nice.
Boxrec has Andrade v. Stieglitz for the 22nd of March. I guess that means Librado is no longer fighting on the 15th of March on the Pacquiao Marquez undercard. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=036961&cat=boxer
My dream for Bute is still alive, just: My ultimate wish/best case scenario list would be: This content is protected on on the Mosley v. Yes, I know! But that would be amazing!!!
Thanks for the summary sean. I've still got a sneaking suspicion that Andrade's chin isn't quite as good as it was when he fought Kessler (maybe a downgrade to "granite" from "diamond") due to all the shots he took over 12 rounds, so it will be interesting to see if Stieglitz can hit hard enough to do anything about it. Other than that, it's tough not to like the smothering style Andrade brings. It should be a very good fight.
Andrade's chin shouldn't be a problem even if worse than excellent because Stieglitz is not a devastating puncher. Worst case scenario, Andrade gets floored and gets up again, like against Mack.
I'd rather have seen Andrade-Bika, but this isn't a bad fight for Andrade. He should win by stoppage in the middle rounds.
Easy fight for Andrade,eh? Stieglitz is no pushover. He doesnt posses the best chin out there, but the young chap has power, determination, stamina, and a good offence.Lets wait and see whether the one-dimensional Andrade will have an easy fight with the tough German-Russian or not.I for my part very much doubt it! Stieglitz stopped Berrio in their first encounter.Whoever has been able to stop Berrio wont be an easy fight for any top supermiddle weight fighter. And Andrade is not really a top supermiddle weight fighter.
