Dick Tiger or Carmen Basilio higher ranking?

    Who do you rank higher between Basilio and Tiger?

    Would you rate them much differently on accomplishments compared to H2H?

    If you would, please give them a 1-10 rating on:

    Hand speed
    Athleticism (reflexes, mobility, coordination, footwork, etc)
    Punching power
    Stamina
    Ring IQ
    Punch Resistance
    (at their best, of course)

    And if you're still game, specifically compare them on

    Longevity
    Best Single Win
    Overall quality of opposition
    Best Performance on film that you know of
    Who had the better performances in losing efforts
    Boldness of fashion statements (not really...unless you actually do want to do that but remember--- :pics)

    Or, just say "SNV is the best" and add one of these: :happy

    ...Okay, I've been too specific and needy, nobody is really likely to mess with this thread in such detail...So do whatever you want, I'm going to take a nap...maybe a BM. TMI? Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, my friends.

    I think Tiger may have a slight edge in achievements and longevity.

    But on the whole, I'd say they had fairly comparable ability, and rate comparably. They're both top 10 in their respective weight classes, probably somewhere in the middle or bottom half of the 10.

    Splitting them is tough/impossible. Basically you can argue this either way with conviction.

    Did he **** dress like a tramp! He was very spiffingly turned out most of the time, he just let clothes get old.

    Nobody google "Dick Tiger" with your images on anything other than "safe", by the way.

    I was reading the new Emile Griffith book and it remarked that Tiger looked like he got his clothes from Salvation Army. Abit far I think but quite funny.
    It was saying he turned up to Press Conferences in pyjamas and slippers.

    :lol: I never heard that story before, but Tiger was notorious for being very thrifty and modestly dressed, despite his admirable ring earnings.

    Yeah, he seems never to have spent a penny he didn't have to. I do remember stories about his clothing coming apart at the seams and him snorting at the idea that he should replace them.


    Which Griffith book are you reading GP? Is it the Nine, Ten and Out one?

    Didn't he get to keep some property? He had a huge property portfolio out there when the **** hit the fan, and I seem to remember he had some of what was confiscated returned to him as part of the agreement that saw him return home? They could always have stung him after that I suppose.


    Yeah, his story basically sucks.
