It was said back in Tiger's day that what it took to beat him was a good trombone player...meaning that it an opponent utilized a long, effective and persistent jab as part of his battle plan...boxed, boxed, boxed, and kept moving, that he could probably beat Dlck Tiger (on points). This was how Joey Giardello, Joey Archer, and Emile Griffith beat him....and that's how Carlos Monzon would beat him too. Tiger was tailor made for Monzon...whose long, hypnotic highly effective jab would either establish distance, set up the right, and just generally gather points all evening. Refer to Monzon-Briscoe ll to get an idea of how the King Carlos could move on the back foot...and effectively throw punches on the retreat. This would be exactly be Monzon's game plan....executed with discipline for 15 rounds. I'm not convinced that Carlos could duplicate Emile Griffith's feat of catching lightning in a bottle by decking Tiger....peak pre-arthritis Monzon could certainly hit a bit harder than Griffith, but whether or not he could replicate a shot like that perfect little doozy of a chopping right hand that Emile decked the Tiger man with is up in the air with me. Carlos Monzon would fight a relatively conservative, smart fight....meaning not standing in front of Tiger and trading...but boxing, and utilizing that trombone, jabbing and moving all night long, with the occasional teeth rattling right hand dropped in for good measure. A wide, comfortable 15 round decision for Monzon is my call.

Two tough as nails guys .. Monzon would outbox him methodically ... Tiger a bit too slow and one dimensional for Carlos ... to have a shot vs Monzon you needed a serious combo of speed, power, comparable reach and a chin ...

Seriously look at Monzon v Briscoe he got caught with a lot of counter jabs and his hands looked slowish.

Bottom line, Carlos was a winner, retired as champion,, 14 title defenses, not many middleweight champions can boast of doing that my friend

Why 12 rounds? These are 15 round fighters. Young middleweight Tiger is a tough out for anybody but I think Monzon would eke out a very close win

I would be rooting for Tiger but I see a UD win for Monzon. He simply had more tools in his arsenal than the game but outgunned Tiger.
