It could go either way, just like Tiger and Giardello both won and lost against one another. Both great fighters, no wrong answer in my opinion.
I might go with Tiger to be honest. A determined Tiger is a nasty man to be in there with. And the way he can stand off and counter with the high guard doesn't mean he would necessarily be walking into a lot of heavy Burley artillery. Though Burley would likely be able to weave his magic throughout those periods of the fight. Very tough one you've thrown at us here!
I don't reckon Burley is as bad for Tiger as someone like Kalambay, or a coasing Roy Jones, or maybe even Giardello himself. Great fighters oth of these two, they can pull things off. But i understand what you mean on the point of Burley being able to outbox his man who would like to be flat footed and wait for openings. Still i think it's winnable for either man, a relentless Dick Tiger did the scoring, explosiveness of his wouldn't end the fight early, but it would certainly do the scoring.. Hard fight to judge in my opinion, winnable for Burley yes, but tough for me.
lets not foget do, fritie zivic beat burley, with coming foward and out hussling burley. tiger was stronger and a btter fight than zivic!
Firstly, that decision was controversial, I actually thought it was a flat out robbery for about a year, but it seems there were some ringsiders that found for Zivic. They were in the minority. Also, Zivic was something like a 100 fight veteran coming in, Burley had fought between 17 and 20 times depending upon whom you believe. So I don't see it as being that relevant, all things considered. Robinson described Zivic as the smartests opponent he ever fought. If anything a disputed majority decision speaks in support of Burley rather than against, given the stages the two men were at in their careers.
well i thought zivic won. i got the impression you just never even give tiger a chance in this fight, when tiger would of had a very good chance at beating burley.
Zivic did win. But many thought Burley had been robbed, Burley was a relative novice, Burley avenged the loss twice. I don't think the Zivic result tells us very much about what might happen between these two. Maybe the Marshall fight is off a little more interst. But i'm far more intersted in the guys who out-boxed Tiger. Who weren't anything like as good at boxng as Burley is. It's not a good style match up for Tiger, in my opinion.
I think its a close decision for Burley a 15 rd SD...Tiger hardley would jab just came in aggressive but Burley would box well, move well and had a hard enough punch to keep Tiger at bay...close SD or Close UD...I lean with Burley here
