No, it wouldn´t. Very clear UD for Dick, something like 11-4 or 12-3 in rounds. Duran would be game but I don´t think he stands any chance.
I don't think so. Duran had very underrated boxing skills and defense. He wouldn't stop Tiger but he would get the majority decision.
Stylistically Duran is not outmatched but I still favour the more natural man at the weight in Dick Tiger to win a competitive decision. Duran would be smart in there and wary of Tiger's strength, but he doesn't have the firepower at the weight to stop Tiger from doing what he wants.
Tiger wouldn't have hesitated..wouldn't have been burdened with too much respect for Duran as Hagler was..he woulod have had more purpose and it would have been Tiger's superior strength...a matchup of bone and muscle that would have been too much for Duran. Tiger would have DEFINITELY imposed his will on Duran, like he imposed his will on Rubin Carter. Duran would have stayed off the deck, but would be in way over his head with the African Tiger....Roberto would have been cagey enough to survive to the final bell, but he would have been punished by the far stronger man.
Tiger was a conservative fighter though so he would hardly go all out for a knockout here, unless he was in Tiger-Fullmer III mood. Duran's skill and smarts would see him last the distance, but his lack of comparable strength, stamina and a consistent "workrate" at the weight prevents him from being able to win.
In the last decade of his career, Tiger depended more on decisions, and was indeed a conservative type that avoided overtly going for the ko..Tiger would chug along, using his great strength and body attack, as he did vs Giardello IV and 2 times vs Jose Torres..short, relatively unspectacular body punches, contrasted with Torres's more spectacular, flashier, longer swings. I would think that version of Tiger would be too much for Duran over the course of 15 rounds, but like I said, Duran would have been savvy enough to hang and survive to the limit, but would be a decisive points loser.
at lightheavyweight tige wins too much of a step up for hands of stone (despite him beating iran barkley at super middleweight) i just couldnt see duran hurting tiger or being able to fight his fight.
