Taylor controversially outpointed a pensioner in two fights and was dangerously running out of gas against a man well over a decade his senior.

This flaw of his was brutally exposed by two rather mediocre fighters, Kelly Pavlik and Carl Froch. We saw what happened when Pavlik fought a class fighter in Hopkins (at 43 years of age), he didn't win a round.

I don't know what John Ruiz has got to do with it. I'm afraid that good fighters can be of any colour and nationality. If you wish to pretend to yourself that Jose Torres and Dick Tiger weren't any good while making the likes of Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik out to be great then go ahead but don't expect us not to laugh at your ignorant views.

    How is that relevant?

The best light-heavy when Tiger moved up was Torres, who had beaten every white and black fighter he had ever faced, and whose only loss was to a Cuban.

Several average boxing fans have already discussed him on here in recent weeks.

No, he is also known because he was a top rated contender who blasted out Emile Griffith in 1 round and fought for the title.

No, beating Fullmer twice (once by stoppage), Torres twice, Benvenuti, and Giardello were all as much or more impressive as beating Taylor.

Pavlik's chin would get grounded to dust.

The only guy that deals with Tiger at 160 is Monzon, Pavlik stands no chance ..

To bring down Tiger you'd have to bring out the 160 big gun and thats Monzon .. Nobody beats a prime Monzon at 160

John Ruiz is relevant because somebody brought up Puerto Rican fighters. The only hispanic and latinos you see as champs are usually at lower weight classes. When they step up and fight white or black american fighters they lose. What happen to Antonio Margarita when he stepped up and faced Shane Mosely a man almost 40 and naturally smaller than him? He lost bad.

As I said and will say again if Dick Tiger was such a murderous puncher he would have a higher ko percentage. Nobody beats a prime Monzon at 160? Are you on coke? Nobody is unstoppable. James Toney would of beat Monzon at 160, if Toney could move up to heavyweight and no be knocked out then he could hanlde Monzon. Roy Jones Jr would of dominated Monzon

    Kelly Pavlik's resume: Taylor x2

Dick Tiger's resume: Giardello x2, Fullmer x2, Torres x2, Benvenuti

    You tell me what's more impressive. . . . .

Giardello had no punching power, Fulmer was slow, only big boxing fans know who Torres is, Benvenuti is overrated as well. If the boxing media said Bronco McKart was great then you would believe that as well right? Kelly Pavlik beat him. In no way is Kelly Pavlik great but neight is Dick Tiger.

You people really need to judge fighters on their own merit instead of praising fighters because so called old boxing experts tell you too.

His motive was to praise past fighters because he heard they were good and put down modern ones because the media hasnt put them on a pedistal yet.... The funny thing is if Kelly Pavlik was hispanic, latino or asian I bet more of you people would be on his nutts. Kind of like how you worship Manny Pac, De La Hoya, and every other non white and black american fighter who fights now.

    That doesn't make him relevant.

Fullmer wasn't slow, Giardello showed power in numerous fights, and plenty of people know who Torres is and acknowledged his recent passing.

    No.

We do. The only one who has brought the media into this is you.

No, if Pavlik was anywhere remotely as accomplished or proven as DeLaHoya or Pacquiao, people would be riding his nuts like they do DeLaHoya or Pacquiao.

Pac beat washed up mexicans, De La Hoya lost to basically every black fighter he fought against. Pavlik only lost to a hall of famer and you put him down.

And prime ones too, plus white fighters.

    No he didn't.

Who was as much "washed up" as the fighters you refuse to give Pac credit for beating.

without stirring this pot anymore, i just wanna say that i think we are selling pavlik a bit short here. i pick tiger to win and if "damage" is the word of the day haha i guess that may happen but i think pavlik would put on a good showing for himself and land some big shots of his own.

Tiger would certainly win..but I reckon it would be a pretty good scrap early on as Dick overcomes Kelly's height and offense.

10 times out of 10 though Tiger is getting the better of Pav down the stretch.

Come on now, yhis has nothing to do with underrating Pavlik...he just was not in the same class as Tiger...period.
