I think Marcel Cerdan comes into the ring, looks to jab, feint to set up the left hook and then the tiger leaps towards him and rips his left arm off. He'd be in a similar situation to the Lamotta fight where he only had one fight. Except instead of fighting Lamotta he'd be getting savaged by an actual real life Tiger. The tiger would then rip his other arm off. The tiger goes to the neutral corner and chomps on Cerdan's right arm until he's hungry again. At this stage Cerdan would probably be best served quiting on his stool. Although apparently no one did back then, except for mobbed up boxers
I'm not the biggest Dick Tiger fan, but there's one kind of fighter he did well with and those were the guys that came to slug with him. Cerdan was a fighter and it would suit Tiger. Favouring him, I think. Edit: going through some Cerdan footage, this is more 50-50 than I thought.
Pretty crude technically as well as slow. He was as strong as an ox but could be outboxed. Smart guys learned quickly to stay the hell away from him and poke their way to a win, which made for a fairly boring fight. Edit: to add to this, it's one of the reasons I'm kinda low on Max Baer, too. Edit 2 : Jess Willard too.
Tiger is the worst possible matchup for a guy like Cerdan. Tiger is just to physical and strong for him just like he was for Fullmer. Going toe to toe with Tiger usually didn't go well for folks. Movement was the key so he couldn't set his feet but Cerdan was not that type of fighter.
Tiger for me.There are very, very few middleweights that I think could beat Tiger in a come forward tear up, and Marcel is not one of them.
I am a big Cerdan fan but i am afraid people might be right here. Tiger was as strong, if not stronger than LaMotta.
Why is the word Dick being bleeped out? Jesus, its a short term for Richard. It shouldn't be bleeped out.
