Intriguing matchup, and this fight could go one of two ways. If Matthew decides to make it a war he will be in for a long, bruising battle and knowing the later version of Matt he will be the one coming to Tiger looking to make a fight of it. This would favour Tiger a great deal because he was much happier against someone that will stand and trade with him so that he can set traps and time them with that beautiful left hook like he did with Carter and Gonzalez. As most of us who have followed Saad`s career know, he would be all to willing to oblige him and fight that kind of fight with the Tiger. I think he would ultimately prevail by either a hard fought decision or late rounds stoppage, and what a fight it would be. But if we take the the younger version of Saad who was a fine boxer with a good jab he could make this fight much easier on himself. Tiger was a pressure fighter but it wasn`t in the mold of a Briscoe or Harada, rather his pressure was very slow and deliberate and he didn't cut off the ring much at all. He used clusters of accurate punches from a flat stance or jumping forward, rather than cutting off the ring and fluidly punching while moving in or to the side. Resetting his stance and letting fighters turn him was definately a problem for Tiger, and for my money it was his biggest stylistic weakness. A young Saad had a good set of legs and a good enough jab to box his way to a decision, and his power was something that Tiger would have definately taken notice of once he tasted it as Saad was a very hard puncher, not quite up there with Foster but not too far behind either. So with all that said I think Saad wins this no matter what strategy he elects to use, but he would be much better served fighting a safety first type of fight in which he would take far less punishment. I think a knockout is unlikely in this fight, but if anyone does get iced in this one it would be Tiger and not the inhumanly durable and naturally bigger Saad. Saad SD15 Tiger
At LH Saad takes this Tiger was a great middle but Saad is too strong for him and would beat him at his own game imo,a bridge too far for Dick.
Tiger was an outstanding middleweight. The main reason for that was his tremendous strength. He was not a good mover, he was barely 5'8" tall and he was very methodical. Inspite of this, he was great. However, when you now step up to a big Lightheavy like Saad, Tiger has to neutralize his greatest asset, strength!. Saad was very strong and very durable. Result, Saad wins pretty clear cut decision.
It's always fun to match up fighters from different eras. An older friend I've met in the last two years is a big boxing fan and, although I disagree to a point, says that trying to match up mythical bouts in different eras is pointless for too many reasons to list. Plus, in this case, you're trying to match a middle with a Lt. Heavy? With all due respect, I really STUPID post/debate....
jocol. I'm basically doing this for fun and this isn't rocket science, or anything important... and as for your arrogant reply...well, feel free NOT to give your opinion. Because I and those who participated in this thread could problably care less about your views in the first place...With all due respect!!!
Than simply don´t answer when it´s such a "stupid" thread (after your indirectly criticism)... Back to topic, IMO Tiger would it make a closer fight than most people think, but I can´t see him winning, like many others here said before, his biggest strength, his pysical power would be eliminated by the also pysically strong (LHW) Muhammad... Saad Muhammad UD 15 Tiger (9-6)
I would go with Saad by UD. Tiger had a granite chin but Saad is not a middleweight. He was the premier-punching LHWT of the late-70's. I think Saad Muhammad would puch too hard and only Tiger's legendary durability allows him to last the distance.
Different eras? It's not like we're pitting someone from 1900 against someone who fights today, Tiger fought in the 60's and 70's, Muhammad in the 80's primarily. There were no big changes in technique or sciences relative to boxing since then to my knowledge. Also, Tiger was a very good Light Heavyweight as well, although he was better at Middle. Your post was about the stupidest part of the thread.
Apart from the rest of your post, all of which stinks, this comment is a bit conspicuous because Dick Tiger proved good enough to win the Light-Heavyweight championship of the world, he beat a good strong champion in Jose Torres, so he deserves to be put in with other light-heavyweights. He was WORLD CHAMPION at the weight when being world champion meant something, he was undisputed.
Sorry guys; two merlots last night and now my head is wanted on a plate... :nut Dick moved up late to LH and never really reached the natural LH limit; in short, an overblown middle. True he decisioned Torres but Jose was nearing the end of his career as well. Saad UD or late stoppage... :!:
