I see this going 2 ways Walker tries to brawl with Tiger and loses by stoppage or he uses his boxing ability to win a close points victory. Thoughts?
Stoppage? Of Mickey? Do you live in reverse world? Walker is the super puncher here w the greatest body attack in pugilist history. How does Tiger stop him? A blow dart? Spear? Quicksand?
He was only ever stopped six times in a hundred and sixty fights. Twice when a teenager, twice as an old heavyweight and once on cuts, in a fight he went in with a cut to begin with. The sixth stoppage is the only one you could potentially hold against him, and it's vs Schmeling. I'd lay down every penny I've ever earned that Schmeling hit a lot harder than Tiger, given his stoppages of Louis, Risko and Stribling.
I'm not sure. On the one hand, Walker was a good technician who may be able to do similar to what Griffith did, and rely on cleaner punching and forcing Tiger back. Unlike Griffith, he wouldn't shy away from hammering it out with Tiger and that could either play into his hands if he gets the better of the exchanges, or end up quite disastrous. Although on the other hand - which is the one I'm more inclined to bet on - is that Tiger is too strong for that to happen, and that he's the one enforcing the fight on Mickey. He'd win on points, in a brutal and grueling war, IMO. Walker's feet and skills were pretty good (although nowhere near the comparisons I've seen made to Duran), and I suppose he could use those to trouble Tiger with his back to the ropes.
Walker piles the Tiger up inside of 10. George, you STILL have no concept of the greatness of MickeyWalker. I find this utterly astounding and very sad.
Gun to the head Walker is stronger than Tiger and he fought the bigger men ...... Going the distance here ... Walker on points
I don’t think Walker was stronger. I think Tiger was the strongest middleweight I’ve ever seem. I think Walker was much better. He could have beat Tiger without making it a super grueling fight that it would be if he fought a dumb fight. Walker by decision.
