Tiger beats the **** out of him. Ruben Carter found out he wasn't such a hard badass in there with a great like Tiger and the same applies to Benn.
I agree that Tiger wins. I disagree with the tone of the picks so far. Benn has heart and guts in excess of what Carter ever showed, and he's proven it. This would be a close and exciting war, total carnage, maybe one of the greatest fights in the hitsory of the division. Mercy stoppage or points win.
I do think it's a stoppage though. But i agree with what you're saying. War no doubt, Benn had heart to burn.
Tiger via late stoppage in a war Benn would have his moments but in the end Tiger would stop him after both men have absorbed a huge amount of punishment.
I like Nigel Benn,,how he got up to wade into McClellan to win the way he did, tragedy notwithstanding...but Dick Tiger would utterly brutalize him like he did Rubin Carter, and maybe even stop him..no wade in slugger type ever beats Tiger at middleweight. You had to be smart like Emile Griffith, Joey Giardello and Joey Archer to beat Dick Tiger, and Nigel just isn't in those guy's league.
That doesn't mean he fares any better, or even as good, against Tiger. Carter was a much more sound and technically efficient boxer-puncher than Benn, who was more of a straight up balls to the wall brawler at MW. That plays right into Tiger's hands. He'd probably make for an exciting first few rounds before Tiger's strength and counter-punching accuracy take their toll and he gets stopped mid to late rounds.
To my recollection two fighters were named Dick Tiger both very tough the older one was a geniune bad ass the other was a tough fighter that never did much...so I will assume you are asking about the older one...Nigel Benn by split decision
Don't see any real way Benn can win. Tiger's ultra durable, negating Benn's power to a large extent. Stronger then Benn, Benn could be roughed up and unsettled. Benn's chin is shaky and Tiger hits hard enough to mess Benn up.
Benn showed against Watson that he can become discouraged if an opponent stands up to his best shots and then turns the fight around. His durability may be even more questionable than Carter's, and his style was tailor made for Tiger. I honestly can't see how he lasts more than 5 or 6 rounds.
