Extremely, extremely difficult to predict. In fairness, the Hearns has already faced a granite tank, turned extra aggressive, and bene destroyed. But not every granite-tank is Hagler and it's not to say that Hearns need try to murder every man he has no chance of knocking out. Based on existing fight footage, I guess the only prediction reasonable is Tiger. But I just have a feeling that given how much more obtuse Tiger is than even Hagler, Hearns might dramatically chance his approach, even post massage. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Hearns is special enough to get it done over 15 on points, maybe, but if Hearns tries any funny business, Tiger will find him, dissuade him, and probably win those rounds to his great benefit. I guess I'll go for Tiger.
I love Hearns more than the next guy. And I probably rate him more than most here. But the powerful pressure of Tiger is far too much for Hearns to handle. Tiger ko.
I think if Hearns is realistic about this, he will stick and move on Tiger and box his ears off all night long. So long as Hearns keeps it at range and keeps moving, Tiger will have nothing for him. Hagler was much more dynamic with his feet and a better boxer overall than Tiger.
If 15 rounds definitely say Tiger has the beating of Hearns. Still favour Tiger if over 12 rounds. I would pay good money to see the match up.
I’d say Tiger. I don’t think Hearns can get him out of there and he’d do enough to wake up the sometimes “sleepy” Tiger. He’d be Tommy’s creeping death, inching forwards, shuffling, slowly taking away his legs on the counter. It’d play out very meh for the first few, Hearns might be leading but he’d be tired. It would be about even I think right up until Tiger takes a harsh one. Once the little giants eyes are open Tommy will be forced into more hindered brawls, that sneaky body work of Richard’s paying off, money in the bank. The dogs of war would be let loose when Tiger gets keen when he senses Tommy slowing, then the less mobile Hearns of about the 8th-9th would be in danger and the Tiger would come out steadfast knowingly. Once Tiger begins letting his hands go with more abandon and starts pouncing into that crunching fat hook, just really backing Tommy up and forcing him to rush his work it’s gonna get uglier every round. Tiger will be pressuring hard on the inside and the writing will be on the walls by the 11th, he’d keep this methodical breakdown up all the while constantly sniffing out a finishing opening, he will find it as the fight anxiety rises, Tigers calmly beats the Hitman up and into a stoppage by about the 13th barely down on the cards.
You’d assume Tommy would’ve boxed guys like the Argentines ears off and Barkelys too. I think he has the capacity to etch Tiger over 10 though. 6-4.
Man, I reckon people are wildly overrating what Tiger could do to Hearns. He was really strong in his area of speciality, I agree, but a good boxer was always problematic for him. I remember a thread where people said Hearns would box Golovkin's ears off. GGG is 3x the boxer Tiger is in terms of technical skills, but Hearns can outbox Golovkin but not Tiger? Tiger lost 19 times to (in some cases) much lesser opponents than Hearns. Now if the question is "could" Tiger beat Hearns then yes, obviously he could. I just wouldn't favour him, that's all. Check this out This content is protected It's clear that Tiger has a few issues with Giardello's clever boxing. He gets lit up a few times by Joey's 1-2s. Personally, while I think Giardello is a real good boxer, that Hearns is a level above him, both in length, speed and especially in power.
People, myself included favour Tiger based on the fights with Hagler, Barkley and Juan, I think. Tiger doesn't have to outbox him, he just has to out-fight him. He's got the guts, style, chin and power to make it happen, Tommy's tenacity plays to Tigers tune in this one.
I call foul and say that this is Classic, the further back in time the fighter, the thicker the rose-tinted patina on everybody's glasses is Just wait until I pitch Tiger against Ol Man Wiggum, the pioneer fighter from 1785. No film exists of Wiggum, but the local newspaper, the "Barnyard Rag" reports that he "had an awesome punch that could lay any number of men out cold". Tiger has almost no chance!
What is so implausible about Tiger beating a less then stellar jawed fighter who was prone to shoot outs?
I can believe it Hearns would beat many great middleweights of the past. I think he beats people like Stan ketchel, Lamotta, Graziano, Zale, and certainly Bennie Briscoe but i think tiger takes him
I did say that Tiger could beat Hearns. But to me Hearns has the large stylistic advantage here, provided he keeps his head.
