Dick Tiger's Place In A Top 100 List? Were Should It Be?

Remove Tiger and Flowers and rank the first four versus the second four. Anyone could win it, literally. If I were betting I'd put my money on Sugar, but no way would I be betting.

In all honesty, I was going to say that I don't want to play that game any more, but now i''m seeing them...

I've always felt that Robinsn would get around the corner on Monzon enough to dig out some rounds. He had the stamina to fight that mobile fight, unquestionably, and spite of Monzon's unnering accuracy and superior reach I think Robinson flashes enough combinations and is clever footwork to keep it where he wants it without getting broken. IMO Monzon has to break him to win. The championship rounds would probably be the best ever boxed. I got no problem accepting a Monzon win here but my pick is Robinson WPTS, possibly split, certainly close.


Greb-Williams is an easier pick. Williams would get crowded and doesn't hit anything like hard enough to keep Greb off him. It would be hard watching Williams fight for the bell and there's a chance he would get broken. Greb TKO 15.

 

Incidently, with Williams out, that's Flowers chance of being called upon drastically reduced, his hands were hellish.

 

It's just what you like really, isn't it?

Flowers twice beat my #1. Yes, they were really close fights, but why wouldn't they be? Greb was possibly the best fighter to lace em up. I especially like the second fight between them for which Greb seemed re-focused and ready to rumble. Flowers-Walker is one of the few unfilmed judges decisions that I lean towards tossing out (i read somewhere that it was one of the fights that resulted in judges scoring a fight in title matches) meaning Flowers arguably went 3-0 versus Walker and Greb in 1926. The rest of his resume is only excellent, but they include guys like Lou Bogash and Johnny Wilson. He's a contender alright. Imagine someone with a solid resume like Wlad Klitschko had also beaten Ali twice and where that would land him in the heavyweight ranking.

As for Hopkins, unbeaten at MW between 1993 and 2005, one of the divisions most dominant champions and one of it's most skilled in my opinion.

 

Very generally, I like consistancy better, but I guess it's who a fighter beat and what he had that's more important. Hard to be sure, I guess you just have to go case by case.
