Did 160lb James Toney KO W Klitschko in sparring?

Hate seeing these men being interviewed in this kind of condition. Feels very exploitative. And Roach alluded to Toney getting the best of Wlad's brother in sparring but his comments didn't suggest that anyone got knocked out or anything.

 

Heard from two different folks who claimed to be there that this is total bs, that nothing of substance happened when they sparred... and it was Vit not Wlad . And Toney hasn't sniffed 160 since Vit was a kid.

 

Apparently, Toney made Vitali look very bad.

 

KOed him?
Doubtful.
Made him look absolutely silly?
Probably.

 

Well some folks claim Wlad gets staggered when they close the lid of his take away noodles too violently, so maybe we should take it with a pinch of salt.

 

It was Vitali. And it's said he got the best of him in sparring. He sure wasn't 160. LOL

Toney comes off as the type of guy that goes 100% in sparring all the time. Most don't. So if he did get the best of him, that might have came into play. Toney going all out while Vitali went 60%, because he isn't going to treat a random sparring session like it's a title fight.

 

Toney was about a cruiserweight at that time.There is a reason Vitali never mentioned James Toney's name.He can't cope with that style.Wlad is a different story though

 

Vitali would've been about 20 or so at the time if he was sparring a 160 lb Toney.

Well they are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to natural boxing ability and ring intelligence, so who knows.

 

Agreed. That Ellie guy really does seem about as unpleasant as it gets, just a horribly exploitative chancer with a camera who has no love for the sport and completely lacks respect for the fighters.

 

Toney struggled mightily with Rahman, Peter and Oquendo...
