    Stories like that sold easy copy, and it is hard to be sure whether they were true or not.

    I tend to be skeptical, unless they resulted in some sort of court case.

    Well John L only ever proclaimed that he could lick any SOB (man) in the house.

    He never said he could lick…well, that just wouldn’t have been appropriate thing (double entendre) to say anyway, even in the Gay Nineties.
