I've got several friends & acquaintances that are Lebanese.
I find them a bit guarded & have a battle with our sense of humour, but they are good people. Admitedly they are christians.

There's funy experience I had when the Vietnamese were coming here.

There's was a complex near my joint.
I went into the bottlo one arvo & there was Bruno who owned the bottlo. Theo who had the fruit shop next door & Jeff a Leb who owned a few independant servo's.
I walked into a heated debate about what the government was doing about the boat people. They were spewing.
They looked at me & says "What do you reackon about these bludgers"
    I started laughing.
I says "You blokes are putting the same **** on them that was put on you!"
Of course there was a lot of difference with G'ment handouts that they never got, but I said "we just have to train them to lighten up. Have a beer & integrate.

Don't forget, when my mob arrived here in chains, the Koories were prolly saying "Why the **** are they sending these load of useless ****s here" :rofl:rofl

    What goes around,,,,,!"

the problem arises with new arrivals who have a staunch ideology which is non-negotiable and counter productive to integration.....

Stewy,,, it's so illogical & unworkable in this culture & lifestyle it will either bend to compatibility, or break.

Islam is in for the toughest time, not christianity,
The crack in the armour is the education system & the equality of tolerance.

As these youngsters mature in an environment of geographic isolation & opportunity, compromises will have to be made.

Islam will have to live & let live simply by the pressures if life here.
If they can't abide with the other religions here, it will be they that are on "sinners soil" not the other way around.

There are good and bad Muslims, the sad thing is wherever there is a large group of them, you are almost garunteed to have trouble or illegal activity happening, migrants come here for a better life, it boils my blood when they say that but bring trouble,

married her at age 6....consumated the marriage at 9... i have spoken to muslims who claim he only married her at such a young age to save her, they never did come up with a satisfactory reason as to why he felt the need to root her when she was 9

i think youll find bad people in any reaches of society, and elomar seems like hed be a **** of a bloke whether he was muslim or christian or amish, its just in some peoples dna, i agree with tc that youth is getting terrible as a whole though, i was kinghit at a party early last year for talking to a blokes missus and then him and his mates layed the boot in , which resulted in my jaw being fractured and several lacerations to my skull. Theres just a gang mentality and no etiquette in fighting on the street.

Didn't this kind of violent behaviour occur with all first gen Aussie sons of immigrants.
Italians, Greeks, Viets and now Africans and the Middle Eastern.
This **** thins out as the generations carry on and they start intergrating in sport and general society.
It thins out because the stuanch traditions simply don't fit after time.

the key is integration in society....we have already seen in places all over the world that people with certain ideologies will not integrate and view us "kaffirs" as a lower form of life then them and the tenet that we should be converted or slayed, although not openly purported by the majority is certainly held on some level with most...(obviously not to the point of genocide to us, but certainly not integrating into our way of life to any degree)
    just my opinion
