Personally i think video evidence tells us the story with no if's and but's as to whether it was legitimate or not. What say you??

You should have put a 4th option, George was up at 9 but in no shape to continue or would have got stopped shortly after. Ipso Facto thats a knockout win for Ali anyway.

Of course anyone polling preferrably needs to look at the actual knockout and join the count before making comment or vote.

I'm expecting your opinion too Dinner, as well as the usual suspects.

Thanks Pat, insights like this is why i started her. Good points. It would still fall into option 1 tho IMO. 100% legitimate with a comment like yours explaining the choice.

JT so close I have always thought George should have been allowed to continue I voted he was cheated because I didn't want to sit on the fence, so yes he just beat the count.

I'd have to add tho if Foreman was ruled up but in no shape to continue there should have been a public lynching or it may have been a fix. The round just simultaneously finished as well and Foreman was no worse than a Holmes many times among hundreds of others.

Totally agree. I don't for one second think it made any iota of diff but technically it was a farce IMO.

The ref counted wrong. I guess, technically, by the refs count, and considering it was the very end of the round, he should have been allowed to walk back to his corner so he could come out and get KO'd in the 9th instead. Still, by my count he was down for 10, maybe even 11, and it wouldn't have changed much as far as the eventual outcome of the fight, so I have no problem with it. Besides, it's much more dramatic this way.

It's the ref's count that matters. He cut it short - for some reason. It surely can't be because George was in no shape to continue, he'd timed the count and was on the way up in time.

Picture this - you are dropped in a title defense and time the count perfectly but get waved off. We have to look at Foreman's perspective. The man did everything right IMO.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Ali - he's my fave. I just think George deserved full well to continue on to later defeat. He wanted to fight on, this is why he rose.

He was done mentally more than anything.

George gets up after the count and walks back to his corner, head hung.

    He was done.

True, Ali had him by the short and curlies.

    The question is however....

Do you think he beat the count or not?
