It has been admitted by Dundee and others involved. There is no doubt whatsoever that he cheated with the split gloves. The smelling slats were also technically illegal back then (although the language would get stronger, later) and even helping Ali back ot the corner was illegal.
Did they help him? I thought he got up and walked back to his corner on his own steam - but I certainly might be misremembering that. After he sat down, so buzzed was he, Ali certainly stood back up again and had to be sat back down - but that was okay, it was during the break.
Nobody is talking about Ali vs Liston I never mentioned a DQ was necessary but now that you bring that up maybe a DQ would have been fair Look it up yourself then get back to me Again more deflecting...no one is talking about Floyd vs Pete Clay would have been toast if not for those salts
They led him ,which is illegal. The fighter has to walk back on his own. They also used smelling salts.
The line between cheating and gamesmanship is thin. It's like the line between Festivus and Christmas Eve.
I was only addressing the being led to the corner bro. I addressed the smelling salts in an earlier post. I had a quick look - Ali walked back to his corner and just as he was almost there, Dundee jumped in and put his hand on Ali’s shoulder as Ali was about to sit down anyway. Personally, I can’t see anything untoward about that.
It was never proven that Margarito EVER did anything wrong, all the CSAC had were SUSPICIONS fired by a blatant lie. Youre confusing him with Louis Resto & Panama Lewis obviously. What Angelo Dundee did was perfectly legal in the US no one told him it was banned in England
Sorry bro but you haven’t highlighted how Ali was led to his corner. Ali went to his corner under his own power - Ali was already there - Angelo only touched his shoulder as Ali was about to sit down - no leading or assisting. Check the end of round 1, when Ali went to his corner, he already there - and Dundee did same, touched his arm/shoulder as he was about to sit down - there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
