Usually after a fight a potential opponent hops in the ring, storms the interview, grabs the mic, and demands the winner fight him next. Shane Mosley did that and actually got the fight with Floyd, the word was Floyd will duck Shane but the call out worked and the fight happened. Alvarez actually called Golovkin into the ring, said we Mex don't **** around, and seemingly told Golovkin and the media your next! Two weeks later dude vacates his title, stop answering Golovkins calls, and is currently in hiding! There hasn't been a word or sighting of Oscar or Alvarez lately. What the hell do you call this, a reverse duck?! I don't think I've ever seen that before. I guess this is how Team Cinnamon stays in control, do all the calling out and ducking simultaneously, keep 3G off guard and clueless to what will happen next!
Canelo's draw relies on the casual boxing fan. Any serious boxing fan can see that he is not that special, he's good but not some sensation like he's being marketed as. So understand that in the post-fight interview, him and Oscar HAD to say all that BS. They would've said ANYTHING at that time and place to avoid being perceived as scared or something like that. Then, afterwards, he will simply not do it. The casual boxing fan does not pay attention to this behind-the-scene drama. They don't know any of this stuff. All they saw is Canelo calling out GGG, and that's it. Whereas we, more serious boxing fans, think it's absurd but we need to realize that Canelo and Oscar literally don't care if we ridicule Canelo for it. They make money off the millions of casual fans.
Good ****ysis. The politics of boxing can be confusing to some who are TRYING to follow it. I can't even imagine what your average casual thinks of it.... They will probably just forget about it and move on.
