Tomorrow Grant is in Prizefighter and I am looking forward to seeing him for the first time, wheras Khan is making his first World title defence the day after. However going back to 2005 I recall Grant complaining Khan had ducked him. Why did Khan not fight in the ABAs that year? I remember some excuse about crowds etc
He did fight in the 2005 ABAs Khan wasn't scheduled to fight Grant when he pulled out of the championship in a row over ticketing...he was set to face John Martin
He had a decent win last time out, but his opposition up to that point had been pretty poor, and Grant has been quite lazy over the last few years only having had 5 fights in the past 38 months...so in answer to your question, no one really knows yet
Khan had looked shaky from the start of the ABA's, Watson floored him and the other kid whose name escapes me- spread his nose all over his face. The funny thing is there is a local lad called Lee Graves from Chorley, he could bang and would have given Khan a hell of a fight. I think they bottled it based on the fact that a loss in the ABA's would have severly hurt his reputation.
It was a tough division 64 that year. Grant beat Jamie Cox in the final and then decided to go pro straight after giving Cox the chance to win the Four nations. I seem to remember Khan winning both his fights very widely on points though.
Khan got a poor ticket allocation, he could have filled Preston Guild Hall on his own.....maybe they didn't want him too... Not a patch on KevinMitchell's ticket allocation in 2003 when he boxed Couch....he filled York Hall...a fair allocation... I don't think so...:good
I'm quality. The momentum Warren had got for Khan was huge. As Jeff said I don't think they wanted a loss to take that away.
Grant's decent fighter saw him once on Setanta on undercard..can't remember what card it was but he is tall and rangy and has skills. Going to be nice to see him box again.
He is a local lad so after he truned pro he used to be in the local papers as the "guy that khan ducked" but than he just disappeared of the radar. What happened to him? Did he get injured or something?
Saw him fight at the o2,hes a decent boxer looks like he lacks power do really see him winning thou but u know what sort of upsets happen in prizefighter.
No disrespect to grant an it was only sparring but i remember a 16 yr old khan playing around with him in sparrin so no way would khan of dodged him mate cause grant was not a big puncher at the time might be now ent seen him in yrs but wasn't then
