I mean, Kotelnik is no power puncher, and apparenly this was such punch output dominance that maybe it wasn't such a test. Still, it was a victory at the world class level.

I wouldn't. Maidana landed about the same percentage then KTFO Ortiz. Kotelnik's D is dat good, really.

Khan is no Bernard Hopkins type of economical effective fighter, he uses his quick, busy offense as defense, and throws a hundred punches per round anyway, so he still connects with a lot of punches. The low percentage is understandable. Sitting down on them would only do harm, he needs the movement, the quick jab and the combos not to let the opponent get brave, in range and in rhythm. That's the style they are building up with Freddie, and it confused Barrera and Kotelnik very much. I also think he can be a bit more accurate and powerful as he grows into 140, so it's the right style given the chin problems.

Did Amir Khan prove anything about his chin?

He proved he can protect it vs. the best counter-puncher in the division. He also took some clean blows without getting stunned and looks like he's taking the Wlad Klitschko road, working on defense and using speed and jab as the main weapons, and unlike Wlad, throwing a lot of combos and moving a lot. It's all about defense, and if you're on top, you can have the weakest chin and still have a successful career.

You can rest assured that Khan will not be matched with someone his same size that can bang. It's a business thing... matchmaking.

He proved he can protect it. Hext step in protecting his chin will be avoiding Maidana.

yh he proved that it definitely ain't china at 140, he got hit with some shots that would have cleaned him out at 135...

i'd still say his chin has question marks over it, but i definitely 100% think its improved.. i was shocked at how he took them punches...

140 suits him perfect, **** the lightweight titles...

I was sceptical about him, but i think he proved a lot yesterday. Not that he has a great chin or anything, but he did take a few good counter left hooks/right hands without showing any signs of being hurt. And more importantly, his stamina held up great; i couldn't believe he was still so fast on his toes by the 10th. I was rooting for Kotelnik, but the speed and reach difference was just too much for him.

Props for Khan, he's really improved since those Pacquiao sparring sessions. I do think his punching in bursts is a bit predictable in that most of it can be blocked by a high guard, but he dashes out of range so fast that it's hard to do much about it, as we saw last night. I think he beats Hatton at this moment, but i wouldn't like his chances vs the ultra tough Maidana...

dont agree with kotelink been the best in the division, think witter is a far better counter puncher, and is all round alot better fighter, just as many other fighters in the division have all got good qualities which Khan hasnt met yet, khan has proved one thing last night which is he can keep up a good workrate, but were he may have improved i still cant see any way of him beating Maidana, and i would really wouldnt like to pick khan against Bradley, Witter, Holt and Torres (if he were to go back down) Kahn is still a prospect who needs to fight at least 2 of those fighters ive mentioned to start a succesfull career

Yes. He got hit on the temple and chin and never looked in trouble, never looked hurt and won the fight with relative ease. Very happy for the kid.
