I was talking about the Urkal fight. He was winning clearly, but looked so slow and sluggish.

Cotto had the flu during that fight and didn't want to pull out....

Thats the way it is ....you are damned if you do and damned if you don't in this situation.

Also, he was being very cautious because Urkal kept trying to to intentionally headbutt.

I didn't know he had the flu. That explains it I guess because he looked twice as good vs. Judah.

Great call here. Unless Cotto tightens up his defense, Manny is going to be able to tee-off on him, even with Cotto's hands up, I think.

Cotto's hands are always up...it's just his peek-a-boo defense style that is wide open for straights down the middle and uppercuts. He either needs to start employing head movement & upper body movement, or he needs to start using his feet better to stay on the outside, cuz he's taking way too much punishment doing what he's doing now and his shelf life will decrease greatly. Especially with a loss against Pacquiao.

His defense was so poor against low volume puncher like Clottey and he still got busted up. After seeing this fight I'm more convinced Margarito didn't used loaded gloves to beat Cotto up.

carias, rabmag -- Right on. Cotto's defense has never been that stout, and he's always been open for straight shots and uppercuts with the peek-a-boo.

People need to stop complaing of the slam. It's just like someone else said it's roughhousing. It's a damn fight and people loose their temper. It's not like he was doing it the whole fight. Watch round 2 when Clottey clinches Cotto and pushes his head down and grabs his arm and tries to pull it back. That probably pissed Cotto off.

I don't think so. Clottey is not an easy opponent.

Margarito has made him a safety first fighter. He was better off with his body attack and inside, outside fighting.

Wow San Rafael. I guess Pinto, Abdullaev, Bailey, Quintana, Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley are all small guys. Don't confuse Cotto's power with other people being smaller.

I hate all these RUIN BS...its like if a fighter has 1 rough fight, hes "ruined". **** sake, fighters back in the days fought 200 fights, no doubt many were tough...these mexicans probably have half of their fights "tough" going up through the ranks without much amateur experience. Cotto looked the way he always did, Clottey was always very good. Consider Clottey would probably have beaten Margo without the hand injury...I picked Cotto close decision, my bro picked Clottey close decision...the fight was as close as it was predicted. I hate to sound like a certain commentator but that fight in terms of styles and how close it was "went exactly the way I thought it would do".

Only people think that Cotto is now somewhat "ruined" is people who severely underestimated Clottey beforehand.

Everytime a fighter looses and is past 25, he was "past prime" or "shot". Everytime they dont win in spectacular fashion after a tough fight they are "ruined". You put in Cotto with Alfonso Gomez again tomorrow whilst his eye is still trying to heal and he would still make Alfonso look like his *****...then all these people will forget all their babbling about "ruined".

LOL, agreed. People seem to forget how much that cut ****ed with Cotto's entire fight. The fact he maintained his composure and gave himself a chance to win is amazing in and of itself. The fact the judges felt he won, despite all that, is even more impressive. No disrespect to Clottey.
