Did any boxers from the past punch harder than McGregor even if they were from a lighter weight?

I watched this vid on youtube saying Conor`s slip and counter uppercut was like former featherweight champ Naseem Hamed`s corkscrew uppercut, and it got me thinking, even though Naz was a lot smaller he had more legitimate KO`s in the ring than Conor had in the cage till this point, so did Naz or any other small boxer have more one punch power than Conor does?

Didn't Floyd basically walk through Conor's shots when they fought?

Yes, but people were talking about the uppercut he caught Floyd with, but I can`t work out whether it was that hard a shot or not, Naz seems to hit harder with the same punch on this vid, I asked the question because he was so much smaller than Conor, but then again Steward said Naz hit harder than L.Lewis!

I believe it comes down to Naz, a boxing specialist, having more power and explosiveness, combined with better technique, leverage and shot placement -- not to mention his unorthodox angles -- which comes from specialist and focused boxing training he undertook from the age of seven. I personally do think Naseem Hamed (at 126 lbs), Alexis Arguello (at 126 lbs to 135 lbs) and Aaron Pryor (135 to 140 lbs) hit harder than McGregor ... and that's before we even touch on Thomas Hearns at 147. That being said, Conor is extremely heavy-handed within the confines of MMA -- especially with his laser-like counter left.

I think Connor punches harder, its just that during a boxing match he doesnt know how to set up his punches properly to give it the fullest affect, while in MMA he knows how and when to set up punches to cause massive damage.

Haven't followed MMA all that much, but don't the gloves have anything to with it? I'd think if you put some of those small gloves on say, a Rosario, or any of the boxers Oneirokritis mentioned, you'd see some serious punches thrown..possibly harder than McGregors

I think Mikey Garcia hits harder than Conor, based on Mikey knocking out plenty of really tough guys across a string of weight classes, as well as factoring in all the anecdotal evidence. The stories coming out of the gym about Mikey are numerous, with numerous fighting who have fought or sparred with Mikey claiming that his power is something unbelieveable, something levels above what they'd ever experienced. I think he would have even more kayos if he didn't fight so conservatively.

Stanley Ketchel probably hit harder than McGregor.

Yes, McGregor couldn`t have decked Johnson he would have been destroyed far quicker than Ketchel was in that bout.

Just imagine what Julian Jackson's shots would have looked like in small mma gloves.

Prince Patel is a featherfisted Lancastrian fraud. I can only assume you've gotten Prince Patel mixed up with Prince Naseem, and aren't just trolling us for your own amusement ala MVC.

    :yikes:

Way back in the first four or five decades of Boxing's gloved era, boxing gloves were generally between four and six ounces, depending on weight class. Joe Louis, who wore six ounce gloves, was ironing people out while wearing what would pretty much be, by today's standards, XL size MMA gloves.

Ketchel probably had a superior gas tank than McGregor too.

Not that that's very much to brag about.
