Did any of you Golovkin fans predict before the first fight that Golovkin won't KO Canelo Alvarez?

Not only did I predict he wouldn't KO Canelo, but I also predicted that Jacobs would end his KO streak.

 You don't get to tell me what I can and can't do.

OR maybe you should have stated those things before their first fight. Especially when some other boxing fans were telling you those same things and you rejected those statement at the time. So you can't now make a random u-turn and use that excuse. You've lost that right (if you want to be objective that is).

That's a really weak comeback. You might as well just waive the white flag and say "I'm done you got me Luis Fernando".

Luis says that you may come over on Sunday to give his beanpole a polish, and that you must remember to bring the Mexican Beef chimichangas with you. He says that you can eat and polish at the same time.

No I thought it would be another close and controversial decision either way. But I did agree with the cards this time

Or maybe you didn't realise how good Canelo's defense was, or how much Golovkin had declined, until you saw the fight.

I used to believe the myth that it is impossible to lick one's elbow. Then I met someone who could do it. According to your logic, I'm not allowed to share my knowledge that it is in fact possible, because I didn't say so before I saw it done.

Canelo razor close controversial decision, X2

...but I'm no Golovkin fanboy that's for sure. Seemed not only fanboys but just most in general on this site picked Golovkin early-mid KO. People just get carried away for the guys they like before a big fight and usually envision the best case scenario for their boy.

I backed the over in both fights and it wasn't hard to work out. Both have granite chins, two of the best in the game.

Actually, he is the poster child for that. His biggest thread was saying that no modern HW under 6'4 should ever be favored to beat an established shw champ. I kinda almost semi halfway agree with that, tbf. But then he suddenly decides Usyk, all 6'3 of him, is God's gift to the HW division and makes crazy threads detailing why no HW would have a chance against him.

Point is, you shouldn't make a positive claim (Golovkin would KO Canelo Alvarez or it's impossible to lick one's elbow) unless you've done full research and have sufficient knowledge. If you do, then you better stick to your words and be consistent with your narrative / argument, or be considered a hypocrite.

If you don't know whether it's possible to lick one's elbow, then don't make the positive claim that it is impossible. Likewise, if you haven't done enough research, then don't make the prediction that Golovkin would KO Canelo Alvarez. And if you do make that prediction, be prepared to be consistent with your narrative after their fight, whatever the result may be.

And ignorance is not a valid excuse! Since Canelo Alvarez has had over 40 bouts. Which are enough bouts for someone to establish how good his durability and defensive skills are. This is a guy who has never been dropped before, or has barely even been badly hurt before. And has taken on elite opponent after elite opponent, beating most of them.

So based on the above information, it's BLATANTLY evident how good Canelo's durability and defensive skills are. Since he's proven it over 40 bouts. So ignorance can't be used as an excuse. Especially in the 21st century which is the digital, information age where information is available to all of us through the internet by the click of our hands, accessible in merely seconds.

And if you've done your research, then you would have known just how good Canelo's defensive skills and durability are. Whilst if you haven't, then you are in no position to make any prediction, without exposing yourself as a TOTAL and an UTTER idiot first.

If you've done the research and still think Golovkin would've KO'ed Canelo Alvarez, despite the huge evidence pointing to how good Canelo's defense and durability has been proven to be, then either admit you are a TOTAL idiot for being wrong, or at least have the decency to be consistent by claiming Golovkin lacked punching power / boxing skills, to avoid hypocrisy, instead of making a random U-turn and all of a sudden, claiming Canelo Alvarez has a solid chin and excellent defensive skills, when you weren't crediting Canelo for those attributes pre-fight.

No! But I get to call you a hypocrite when you act like one and when you fulfill the definition / criteria of one.

I haven't made any U-Turn. Me making a U-turn would be me claiming Povetkin had no chance against David Price before their fight, and then me giving Povetkin no credit for beating Price, even though my prediction turned out to be wrong. That's not the case here! Since even though I was wrong, I gave IMMENSE credit to Povetkin for being able to perform a feat that I didn't believe he could after he proved me wrong.

Where as you on the other hand, are doing the total opposite. Initially claiming Golovkin would KO Canelo Alvarez before their fight, totally disrespecting and disregarding Canelo Alvarez's durability and defensive skills then. Whilst also disregarding Golovkin's old age then. But when Golovkin fails to get the KO, rather than totally reassessing Golovkin's boxing skills and punching power, you are hypocritically NOW claiming Canelo's defensive skills and durability was good, as if that's the narrative you held all along, when it's not the case.

Not the same at all whatsoever! A false equivalence from your behalf!

Are we discussing still about the 1st fight where Canelo was totally clemburoled?
I did not predict that he was gonna get caught 2X and suspended though. I missed that one :coleman:

I thought he would ko him but the Jacob's fight had me rethink it

I think I still expected a wear him down late tko

I did not expect canelos head and upper body movement to be that elusive

I thought he fought two great performances regardless of scoring
