Did any of you here think George Foreman could win the HW title in 1994? I was thinking about this question today, but there were no messageboards then so it was mostly conversations about if he could do it. Foreman had gotten beat by Holyfield, and then Tommy Morrison, and I'm still surprised Morrison beat Foreman, I would've expected Foreman to KO Morrison, that must've been some display? And then Foreman is behind on the cards and KO's previously undefeated Michael Moorer, did any of you expect that or see it coming?
I was just six years old in 1994 so I don't understand what a lot you here who were into boxing at that time did.

Well, Moorer's chin was known to be shaky - but few, including myself, a HUGE Foreman fan, thought that George could get to it at that point in his career.

I will tell you this though, that made it all the more exciting when he did. To this day, along with Tyson-Douglas, this remains one of the most memorable and exciting moments since I started watching boxing in the mid 70s. I am pleased I got to see it when it happened!

Moorer was having problems following instructions with Atlas. Foreman took advantage of that and knocked him out.

Yes because Atlas predicted a Moorer victory which pretty much gives Foreman the title on a silver platter

I was too young to have had an opinion, but my grandfather thought George would win it!

I was not surprised at all. I was more surprised that Morrison outboxed him a year before. Holyfield beat him in 1991. So the fight with Moorer in 1994 was his 3rd chance at the title, and Moorer had a weak chin and he stood in front of guys a lot. I was not shocked at all. I was more surprised it took Foreman 3 chances at the title to win it in a very weak decade for heavyweight boxing.

I did, but I was pretty young then, only 14.

If the fight was happening today, I'd of course say Foreman has a puncher's chance, especially with Moorer's chin, but probably my pick would be Moorer by decision.

    Without question he would..:D

I didn't think Foreman would win. I watched it in a bar (I was about 20), and when Foreman KO'd him, all of the old *******s in the bar went ballistic!!! Screaming and shouting at everyone under 30 about old guys being great and all that ****!!

It was ****ing hilarious. I wanted Foreman to win, but didn't think he would.

I saw him against Holy, and he did pretty well, just thought he'd be too old. Gave him more chance against Moorer than Holy tho, because of the chin factor (and brain factor) with Moorer...

nobody thought Foreman would make it close let alone win, really he was an object of ridicule before he put up a brave effort against Holyfield and took all those punches and then people just turned from laughing at his face to laughing behind his back. Then he goes and does plus the way he did it, it was so dramatic and what a great surprise, one of those "where were you" moments.

I believe that was the greatest comeback and maybe achievement in sports history and as Bert Sugar said jack nicklaus won a tournament one year older, but no one was throwing golf clubs at him.

I was a young boy when I watched this fight with my father but even at that age I had faith in Big George. He was and is one of my favorite fighters of all time.
