I'd disagree with the highlighted part, do you feel that the 80's before it or the decade since has been any stronger ?

I know people at the time were talking about a 'weak' heavyweight generation (as they seemingly always do)

Anyway, something to consider. At 42, it was considered a miracle that Foreman won.

Today, guys that were never that good at their best (and certainly NOTHING like a young George Foreman) are making comebacks at around that age NOW because they genuinely think they can win a title - Maskaev is a great example.

Well, when my man Foreman said he was cutting out all junk food for Moorer in 1994, and he was gonna be slimmed down to 240 pounds, I knew damn well Foreman was serious and had a real chance at winning back the crown........... Well, Foreman came in at 250, but he looked fit to go...... However, age had slowed Foreman to a crawl, but Moorer was fencing with Foreman throughout....... I was STOKED when Foreman lowered the boom on Moorer in round 10........

To me it was obvious, and the only surprise is that it was such a struggle.

Moorer's chin was very shakey at heavy. He was highly overrated, struggling against Bert Cooper, who had been blown out by other guys (including Foreman).

Yeah, he beat Holy, because Holy had a heart attack.

    I hope Maskaev doesn't win a title...

This record belongs to George and it should stay that way cause he rightfully deserved it. Maskaev couldn't beat Vitali Klitschko, but Vitali is injury prone and Maskaev could beat him if he suffered a injury like in the Byrd fight...that would be kinda undeserved...

I didn't expect it to happen. He was so behind on the scorecard but moorer got careless. I just love the way lampley said it after the knockout. It happened .. it happened:lol::lol::lol:

He was 45 not 42 so Maskaev is no threat to his record.

And big george became the linear champion not just a belt holder so even if Holyfeld would have gotten his win over Valuev it could still be argued that George holds the true record. Especially since Valuev was given the belt back when Chagev was out.
