It would be understandable, he was looking real good in that Tyson fight. But the real question is will anybody actually admit to being so wrong
No bets but i watched that fight live (Perry!!!!) with a sense of uncertainty per both fighters. I was far from 100% convinced Holyfield had what it took as a heavyweight and i was also not convinced Buster had 100% turned the corner.
Lookin at how good he was against Tyson , I'd have thought quite a few people actually did. We'd seen holy field struggle against Doke s and Dwight had given him life and death , yet Buster had looked great against Tyson , so putting all that together you could claim Douglas would come out champ .
Here's some great perspective guys - At the official weigh-in, Douglas weighed 246 lbs, 14½ more than his weight for the Tyson fight. "Roll him in and carry him out," said Lou Duva, co-trainer of Holyfield, who came in at a svelte 208. Mirage oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro said there was a mad rush to the sports book after the weigh-in. "Over $150,000 was bet in one hour, and 90 percent of it was bet on Holyfield," he said. Holyfield had been as much as a 12-5 favorite. The odds went down to 7-5, but after the weigh-in, went up to 9-5.
I'm sure plenty of people picked him. He really put on an abysmal effort. 15 pounds overweight, and then he spit the bit with the first good punch and just Lied down. Awful showing. Really washed away a lot of the good people felt from the Tyson upset. Douglas would be remembered far better, had he put up more of a fight even if he still lost.
