    Red Cobra,

That was between the 4th and 5th rounds. What were you smoking:smoke

    McGrain,

You must have done your history.
The odds on the Liston-Clay fight opened at 8-1, in Las Vegas.
By February 23rd, the odds went to 7-1.
After the weigh-in/pre-fight physical fiasco, where Clay's pulse rate went off the charts, the odds dropped to 8-1.

Liston fighting 6 rounds in 3 years did him no good in retrospect.

Clay going into his victory dance in his own corner seemed a little "premature".

Plus, Liston's promotion team owning a piece of a number of Ali's future fights if Ali won.

Back in the early 60's the Mob still lurked around beneath the scenes.

Liston getting his ass beat isn't something you see everyday, if that is what you mean.

The champion quitting like that was probably the most peculiar thing.

The quoted odds of 8-1 and 7-1 are actually an exaggeration. On the ground reports reckoned more like 3-1 the day of the fight.

    Pay-out for a Liston 1st Round knock-out.
    15-1.
    A $1 bet got you a return of $15.

Longhorn; Good point,,,,in 41 months (3 1/2 years), less than 6 Rounds in total ring time.
Sonny Liston was in the ring for a total of 13:05 (minutes) over that period.

Cassius Clay's fight with Henry Cooper lasted a total of 14:15 (minutes) on 6/18/63.

The foriegn substance that was supposedly put on one of Liston's gloves before the start of the 4th round, didn't activate until Cassius Clay got back to his corner after
    the round.

It must have been one of those 2-4 minute delay type ointments,,,,,,,,,

    MC5,

It was either Leotis Martin or Jesse Bowdry who said Sonny wasn't the least bit focused
    on the fight, and added;
He thought, just by walking into the ring, Cassius Clay would be scared stiff, and
freeze, leaving him still, and an easy target for 'pot shots'.
    Much like Floyd Patterson.
He figured this was another Albert Westphal.
He never expected the fight to go longer than 3 Rounds.
Sonny was getting more information about contractual items, possible appearances and
future dealings, than tips on Clay.

It was between the 4th and 5th Rounds.

Isn't funny how the swing-arm cameraman from TNT Network just happened to get a perfect view into Clay's corner at the end of the 4th Round, to catch the blinking Clay, with a perfect view of his face.

There's some good color footage of the fight, filmed on movie cameras from above the ring. I've only ever seen short segments of that. Does anyone know if that film is available ?

    Unforgiven,

If you check pictures of the fight, with Cassius Clay jumping up in the air, with
the camera angle from below the ring apron...
You can see an overhead movie camera directly above Cassius Clay's corner.
Movie rights (color footage) to the fight were sold.

Yes, I'm surprised that film hasn't been more widely distributed. I've seen some of that, probably have it on VHS but just a short segment, I think it's on a compilation made of heavyweight fights from the old Big Fights Inc. collection.
