I am waiting for Compton's book about Greb right now "Live fast, die young" and I am really looking forward to it. There is another book about Greb called "Give him to the angels" which was written in the 1940s I believe. I only found a version which costs a few hundred dollars which is more than I am willing (or able) to pay. But I wonder if anybody read it or has it or if anybody found a kindle version of it. Would love to read it too (after reading Compton's book).
B, I bought James Fair's Book "Give him to the Angels " in the 1940s... A thin book I bought it for my dad who saw Harry Greb pulverize Gene Tunney in 1922 at MSG...We enjoyed this book, but like a fool I loaned it to a "friend" who lost it...I am sure Kompton's latest book towers over" Give Him To The Angels "...Like a fool I have loaned to friends several books of boxing, never to be returned no more...No Mas...
I know what you mean. I once borrowed 2 books to a guy and he never gave them back either. Funny how this bothers me even though it happened around 14 years ago. Dude probably thought "Hey cool, I got them, I will keep them".
Man, I wanna read that book too. I did read klompton's book and it was very good, I just wanted to read that other one too. Can't get my hands on it though. Is there a Kindle version available of it?
B. Recently I loaned $5000 to a neighbor to get a face lift. She never repaid me and now I can't find her because I don't know what she looks like...atsch
There are a couple of copies of "Give him to the angels" on ebay. They're expensive though, one is a first edition at 118 pounds.
Its not really worth the cover price much less what people are charging for it today. Its an insult to Greb and it's author contributed to and furthered many of the myths written about Greb to this day.
Those that have read Compton's book are pretty unanimous in their praise of it, and the research that went into it.
