I wish weigh ins would go back to being held morning of fight. To insure guys not starving to make weight, wish i would be held some time, like a week or so before official weigh in. Guys are coming into fight all over the place weight wise. Lightweights are entering ring as super welters, super welters are almost light heavies--it's a farce.
Ill agree with this, Dzinzuruk would have won his last fight had his opponent not come in as a light heavyweight and Sergio Martinez may well have Knocked Julio Chavez out had he come in weighing around the 160 mark however I think that even so you have to give some middle ground I think a fairer way of doing things would be to have a Maximum rehydration clause and a mandatory weigh in on fight night as some fighters would be putting their health at risk to get down to the weight and then be to dehydrated which could possibly lead to serious injury (Look at Gerald McClellan) So for example First weigh in before fight night - 155-160 Second weigh in on fight night - 155-175 Anyone over the weight pays the same penalty as they would for coming in over the agreed weight (Loss of title and percentage of purse)
I was surprise that Friday's weigh in was late instead in the morning. Since when this started to happen?
Chavez was definitely at 180+ on fight night. Mad props to Sergio Martinez for manning up and taking wild shots from a ****in cruiserweight.
