Did anyone else look at tonight's fights on ESPN Classic and go: "What the ****?" Seriously now ESPN Classic, Charles Brewer Vs. Scott Pemberton followed by Vinny Maddalone Vs. Shannon Miller? You can't do better than that???? Seriously, I know I'm not the only one who thought this...
:rofl Wasn't watching, but those would have been my thoughts. I'd rather watch Ali - Foreman for the thousandth time.
Sometimes ESPN Classic has amazing fights (Haugen-Paz, McGirt-Whitaker, JCC) and then they have wtf choices like the ones you see in this thread. I truly think they pick the fights out of a hat.
Brewer Pemberton wasn't a bad scrap - But both fighters had more entertaining ones. Brewer V Echols and the Sheika V Pemberton fights were both entertaining.
dont knock Maddalone vs Miller before youve seen..great slugfest..really..seriously:bbb not a classic fight but a very entertaining one
Don't forget, ESPN's "classics" are the best from the fights broadcast on their network. Theres a lot of club fights and top fighters taking on second raters to keep busy. Occasionaly there is a fight like last weeks Chambers-Peter, which actually meant something , and once in a blue moon a title fight like Klitchko-Gomez. But for the most part it's stuff like Brewer-Pemberton and Vinny Maddalone type amatuerish skirmishes.
I have noticed ESPN Classics is starting to air lotsa' modern **** that is questionable.... I am harsh with the modern / current crop of fighters these days..... Some of the new kids on the block who are making headline boxing news really don't do jack spit for me..... I'm not gonna name any names..... MR.BILL
Why doesnt ESPN Classic and/or HBO show classic fights like Hagler-Hearns, Hearns-Leonard, Pryor-Arguello, or Leonard-Duran? They happened years and years ago are they worried about people recording them then making copies?
