Told him not to punch so hard again during the Walters match? This is amazing to me. I think I've heard his corner say that three times now.

That is not unusual or amazing advise at all. Canelo's corner told him not to punch so hard against Khan. Also, I've heard many corners tell their fighters to stop trying to go for the KO.

    Lol... WTF?

It's not that big a deal to bother to do that. If you've never heard a corner tell his fighter to stop throwing KO punches then YNTWMB (You need to watch more baxin)

Never heard it stated exactly that way but I've heard plenty of corners say to slow down and not focus on the KO. Seems like reasonable advice. Or maybe he has had a history of hand problems? (Haven't heard anything of it if so)

the fact that you can't produce one iota of evidence speaks for itself........

not talking about slowing down or not go for the ko, show me proof of a corner telling their fighter not to punch hard......

It wouldn't be unusual if they said stop going for the KO or slow down. That's not what was translated or what I'm referring to. I've been watching boxing most of my life and what I am referring to is not common in any way or tantamount to just slowing down and not looking for the KO punch. Nor does it align, in case they translated it poorly in essence, with what was going on in the fight for Lomachenko as far as the context of when you ordinarily hear calls for slowing down or not loading up, etc.

Well, he did break his left hand in a fight before. They also have everything translated so that may not be quite what they said.

What's weird about that? Hand injuries (ask Calzaghe, Donaire or Mayweather) and stamina issues (ask Bute, Liakhovich and Pascal) are definitely things.

Wlad klitchko was told not to hit byrd too hard, but just hit him. dont load up but just land, and he did over and over again, and got the KO.

Maybe, but it just seems odd. Normally don't hear anyone coached to stop punching so hard when they don't seem to be doing anything unusual or working hard though.

Invaluable input from you so far.

I don't say anything to the contrary of those being things but I think when it doesn't look like a guy is doing anything that isn't pretty easy for him and doesn't seem to have any stamina issues, I don't see this being relevant. That's why it seems weird to me. I didn't see him looking like he was trying to take anyone's head off or anything like that, did you? I take the point of him hurting his hand before but again, yeah, with what was going on, it does seem weirdly to not fit anything going on in the fight to me. If you thought it made sense at the time, okay, I just took note of it more than once in places that seemed equally odd.

See now THAT instance would actually fit what IntentionalButt said, because of Wlad having big stamina concerns over his head for both Byrd fights.

And yeah, when I'd heard them translate this before that's what I thought, but hearing it again since then makes me wonder and start this thread. Maybe somebody took note who could hear it in its original phrasing would have input.
