Roach almost looks like he wishes he had Cotto in his stable of fighters sooner and seems to give more coaching between rounds.

I think he realizes how much smarter Cotto is compared to Pac.Even though Cottos opposition with Roach has been terrible, there is a solid connection between the 2.

Don't remember Pac ever quitting on his knees.:huh

Pac has speed, and heart...Cotto doesn't.

Man, I wonder how Cotto would've developed under Roach sooner. He's looking fantastic.

And no, his opposition isn't terrible. Everyone picked Martinez to dominate Cotto, and Cotto beat him the f*ck up and stopped him on his stool.

That wasn't a prime Martinez though. Prime Sergio stops Cotto.

Prior to Pacquiao-Hatton, Freddie was on a radio show and asked which fighter he would want to train if given the chance. He said Cotto, because he felt he was a fighter with a lot of ability, who he could really work with. He said when Cotto left his uncle, he was hoping Miguel would give him a call. Instead, Cotto elected to go with a complete novice and ended up going against Freddie later that year with Pacquiao.

Would have been interesting to see how things played out had they came together at that particular time. Though, that would also mean we would have never got a chance see a Pacquiao-Cotto fight.

Cotto was not a massive underdog against Martinez. Pacquiao is levels above what Cotto will ever be and in his prime Pacquiao was by far the greatest fighter of his generation.

He's had great success with Cotto, gets paid a lot by Cotto, and gets praise and recognition for his work with Cotto. Logical for him to be behind him and more passionate about training him than any other fighter he has at the moment.
