Did anyone else think De La Hoya - Hopkins was a little suspect?

Where'd you pull that particular "fact" out of your ass? Learn what "facts" are. What the hell is it with ESB members throwing around the term "fact" when they're stating "opinions"? A fact is something like 'the NYSAC measured Nikolay Valuev as being 7'2.' or 'Stanley Ketchel's official weight for that fight was 158 lbs." not "blah blah blah, bull****, blah blah blah, more bull****." See? They look like completely different things.:good

    Wrong: Fact: I think this.
Wrong: What about the fact of some stupid **** that I assume?
Wrong: The fact of the matter is, nobody sees it like this.
Right: The fact is all his bouts aired on HBO that year.
Right: It's a fact, he threw twice as many lefts in that round.
Right: Fact: So and so doesn't know what a fact is or is pretending not to, as evidenced by their incorrect usage of the term 'fact' here, here and there.

    Facts are not opinions.

    No.

DLH was caught with a punch and was fighting above his weight class.

I always thought he took a dive, but having just seen it now, it really is a short sharp uppercut come hook into the liver, and its a delayed reaction fall from Oscar, almost like he tries to continue, but then his body thinks better of it and he collapses.

U hear him Yelp as it lands, looks friggin painful.

I think by the time he's hitting the canvas, most the effects of the shot have worn off, and he's just simply disappointed he's missed his chance of a real monumental moment in boxing history, infact he was leading on one card, and Mayweather snr had him believing he was gonna go on to win.

I have suspected this as well. I'm sure he was his hard, but usually when you are hit with a gut shot your energy just gets sapped and you can't really move. DLH was rolling around and then after he has been counted out hit starts hitting the canvas, after about 15 seconds then he just gets up. It does make sense, because I think Hopkins was just signed at GBP, and it would look better for Hopkins to KO DLH for bigger and better things for him. And while DLH is still raking in the cash whether or not he loses.

It's tough to say we really won't ever know, probably, and I think either way Hopkins was going to win that fight. I think, I'll have to look in my file, but I think Hopkins won the last couple of rounds and was starting to get his groove. Personally, though I'm sure It was just a nice shot to a DLH fighting way above where he should be fighting against one of the greatest Middleweights of all-time.

Actually facts are observations in which are subjective so they are in fact opinions ;)

The car is red. (Most would consider this a fact)

If everyone said the car was red, then the fact of the matter is that the car is red.

The reality of the situation might very well be that the car is bright red or a bit darker than normal. Or if you want to get scientific about it, the car is actually every other color BUT red.

Go look up the word Fact in the dictionary and you'll see that your previous knowledge of the word is false and you were being a pompous.

And all you people that are talking about him pounding the canvas are ridiculous.

He reacted perfectly fine. He only pounded the canvas after recuperating. He was already on the ground for awhile.

    Seriously. Watch the footage.

GTFOH with that ****. Hopkins during that point was a NATURAL MW. And Oscar was a NATURAL JMW. But Hopkins wasn't huge for his weight class.

Don't be so dense. My point was that DLH(the smaller guy) got hit by Hopkins(the bigger guy) and he went down by a legit punch.

    Damn:patsch

You make it sound like DLH was completely out of his depth in that fight. He grew into it and he wasn't THAT small.

I would actually argue that Trinidad was smaller than DLH against their similiar foe.

Maybe just a little........it looked to me like hopkins carried dlh the whole fight. Hopkins wasnt even trying.

    Never implied such a thing.

All I've been arguing from the start of this thread is that DLH went down from a legit punch from a bigger fighter. Nothing dubious about it.

For the record, I thought DLH was holding his own for the first half of the fight!

What the ****?! Go watch the fight again. He was trying to rip Oscar's head off. He just kept getting caught with the left hand. He was also getting hit alot with flurries. Some of them were empty punches but some of 'em were making serious connection.

Hopkins, throughout the fight, was timing Oscar. He wobbled him in the 5th with a well-timed shot.
