Did anyone else think De La Hoya - Hopkins was a little suspect?

I don't think he was running out of gas. I'm always surprised by how much in the fight he is up until that body shot. I'm seriously starting to think the rumors that he shat himself might be true.

There is a slow motion clip out there of DLH landing one of his patented left hooks clean on Hopkins chin and B-Hop didn't even flinch with DLH making a crap face.

DLH knew he was going into a beatdown. I don't speculate whether it was a legit KO or the man took a dive but Hopkins was going to take the fight to him.

Besides, there was a very obvious size difference, maybe worse than Marquez-Mayweather.

    :lol::patsch:patsch:bart

I posted a clip. Go watch it. You'll see the size difference wasn't immense.

There was a bigger difference between Trinidad and Hopkins than DLH/Hopkins

Some people thought that Dorin KO was a dive as well because it took him a second to react and fall down from that shot.

I'm undecided on this. I have 3 likly scenarios:

    1. It was a legitimate body shot, camera was on the other side so we didnt see it.

    2. Oscar having millions of $ and thinking about promoting rather than fighting wanted to save his health and take the easy way out and decided to give up in the 9th

    3. The whole fight was scripted, was supposed to look competitive for 9 rounds then DLH goes down from a perfect body shot. The script was probably good but the actors didnt perform well.

Body shots suck. Depends on where you get hit.

If you deck the guy in the mid-section straight down the middle. You stole the air out of his lungs. And you'll be stuck there for a minute or two. Can't breathe. You spit out your mouthpiece...it just sucks. I got caught with a shot like this and no longer talk **** about people who get KO'd from a body shot. You TRULY can't get up.

If it's a liver shot or a kidney shot...it creeps up on you. It sort of feels like getting tapped in the nutsack. It gives you a pain that feels like your back hurts, you want to get up because the rest of your body is fine but the strength is gone. Breathing is difficult. You can, but it's just hard. Someone can recuperate from this quickly enough and sometimes you can't depends on the punch really.

I've been ht in the pit of the stomach as well and had the wind knocked out of me. I didn't go down, I just completely froze.

I believe Dorin was hit in the pit of the stomach with a Gatti left hook as well. I don't think he saw the shot coming either. Gatti hit him with three shots upstairs which Dorin blocked easily and then Gatti finished the combo with a cranked up left hook to the solar plexus. Dorin then turned around for a second and then only after he turned did he realize he was hurt and then went down to his knees and began to writhe in pain.

I don't think he took a dive, but it was a funny little delayed reaction he had there.

I'm watching the De La Hoya-Mayorga countdown. At around 2:28-2:35 you can even HEAR the punch land, then he dips his elbow down to where the punch landed and he fell. Even his friend talks about how depressed was after the fight. That **** wasn't fixed it was a perfect shot.

Your right in the sense that the punch looked a nothing punch , but i think thats about as right as you get , in fights previous and fights after the Hopkins fight De La Hoya has stood and withstanded more punishment and seen out the distance or looked for a late stoppage himself , i think this is a pretty ridiculous theory if you ask me .

Hopkins was starting to imose his will on Oscar though in a close fight at that point but i just cant see it TBH .
