Lucas is a very small 140lb fighter, in real life he's like 5'5 at best and he doesn't cut a lot of weight.

    :nod

However much he may rehydrate, he is never going to loom over any 140lber. If he ends up campaigning at 147, he will be a shrimp - but an efficiently destructive shrimp if his chin and power carry up. :good

It was several years back that currently active John Molina went by "John John" (even having it on his trunks?) - presumably in tribute and to play off the name value of the original John John, despite that one being Puerto Rican and this one being Mexican-American with thus a very different fan base.

He switched over to "Gladiator" at some point. :conf

Maybe he realized it was tacky using former champ's nickname, especially with so tenuous (or rather nonexistent) a connection between them.

Right, he uses similar to the way Diego Corrales did, to get leverage for harder punching power but, it's makes you highly susceptible to being out boxed. It's a give and take thing in my opinion.

He looked huge. Long and really wide across the shoulders and back. His head looked like it belonged on a LHW's body. No wonder he was able to take all those bombs so well. He did say beforehand that people were going to be surprised by how well he measured up to Lucas in that regard and that he was actually the bigger man of the two.

I thought a member of the commentary team said that he was 154 lbs to Lucas' 157 lbs on the night, but I might have misheard that. If those are the correct weights, then that's considerably heavier than what Lucas usually weighs. He was 149 lbs for the Olusegun fight, 151 lbs for Judah, 153 lbs for Alexander, and just over 151 lbs for Garcia.

If I was him I'd stay at 140 if possible because he's too small for 147 and he'd likely loose some power at higher weight division as a lot of fighters do. And let's he relies a lot on his power.
