I do not want to take anyhting away from what was an truly amazing win on saturday, he boxed extremly well, it was a world class performance, a virtual shut out.

Most of you will know i am one of the few on here thats backed Amir from the beggining. However one of the reasons I loved wathcing him was because he was fearless, exciting, always going to the stoppage, showed no fear.

His performance on saturday was a bit like a Wlad Klitscko, Chin tucked behind the jab, using the long reach and the speed. He did throw allot more right hands. he was still open but kotelnik couldnt capitalise, Roach has trained him very very well.

But if Khans next 5 fights are going to be like that, i won't be tuning in.

I was waiting for Amir to try and trade with him as well. I wouldn't call it boring but it was a very smart and disciplined performance.

He did what he had to do. No point trading with a guy you aint gonna Knock Out.

compared to his fights before prescott it was a snore fest

  7. I think this is a very interesting point. I've thought the same thing. I was at the fight and I didn't find it boring but that's because I was nervous for him through most of it. He did what he had to do and boxed to his strengths which is a sensible mature approach that Khan needs. That said, I don't think he's going to bring the same excitement that guys like Naz, Hatton and Calzaghe have in the past. he just doesn't seem to have the power. And there's a danger that running all night and then throwing a four punch combo onto the gloves is going to get a bit boring. But Kotelnik is a very defensive minded fighter

Both of these sum it up perfectly:good. Roach has found a style that works for Khan- bear in mind that Khan is also very much a work in progress. Three camps isn't a lot and he's improved immensely in that time.

Boxing is not all about KO and taking risks. Khan displayed a art of boxing that not many if at all can do here in the U.K. and it won him a world title.

I found it extremely boring but thats why he fought Kotelnik, there are not many champs he could have faced who would have been that fazed or easily outboxed due to his speed. Certainly not PPV worthy, then again, Khan v Kotelnik was never gonna be PPV worthy to start with but if people paid to see him fight ***an then they're gonna pay to see him fight AK

I didnt find it boring but that was maybe because I had alot of interest in the fight and was watching intently of what was happening. However if it was just a normal run of the mill fight I happened to be watching then I guess it may of been just a medoirce level of entertainment.

However as previous posts have said to Khan it wasnt about entertaining he just had to get the job done and seal the World title status.

Khan is no Naseem Hamed thats what the fight showed. he is not the big flashy star that he was hyped to be at the start but he is a smart professional who got the job done off the back foot. But in the fight it was Kotlenik who was the stalker and the one looking strong. Khan was the one fight more in fear of getting punched. His fragile resistance will always be there and this will proably make him alot more cautious and boring now he has steped up to world level. He cant afford to get sloppy or he could easily be taken out or at least hurt and in trouble.

A weak chin is something Khan is just going to have to work around = a safety first performance where Khan steals the fight off the back foot rather than standing in the trenchs for a fight.

Not my cup of tea - but still he has to fight to his strengths not his weaknesses.

Yeah but the flip side of the argument is Kotelnik was medicore puncher. What happens when Khan fights a more dangerous explosive puncher. Will he be even more defensivly / back foot minded...........:think

I think if he continues to fight like that he will become boring but saturday there was suspense that kept the fight interesting. the suspense was not knowing if Khan could take a light welterweights punch and if he could keep up pace. He boxed well but he will not win many fans if he does that in america but in my opinion...a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

I found it very boring. He seemed to be holding and running a lot while missing loads of punches. It was like a horrible mixture of Wlad Klitschko, Joe Calzaghe and Paul Malignaggi.
